Guest SMYKUL Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 I downloaded yeti3d (for pocket PC) from here last night (they said it would be ok !)and it took a LONG time to load, i waited and played it for a bit, when i got bored i selected the quit option, the game said "quit option unavailable" and crashed (at which point the last milisecond of music went on an infinite loop, lol). I ripped the battery off at once and rebooted but my phone crashed on the orange loading screen (not even the microsoft 1) the backlight stayed on and the phone was unresponsive (e.g. when i pressed a button the keypad did not light up). when i tried to hard reset the phone this morning it did the "press any key" thing and i did but then that crashed on the canary screen, only prob is that i have never had to hard reset before and i dunno if im doin it right, i tried to go on coolsmartphone.com but for some reason my PC just reboots while its loading, LOL. Someone please help, ive got my last GCSE exam tomorrow and i need my phone so i can relax and play games on it afta !!! p.s. I tried connecting it to my pc to install the last update again but my pc doesn't recognise it so activesync doesn't start.(e.g. my pc tries to connect, not sure if it does or not but either way it does not recognise it as a smartphone)
Guest martin Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 Click on the words hard reset for instructions. NottE: After Erasing IPSM from the bootloader menu the phone will take MUCH longer to boot up so be patient
Guest SMYKUL Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 thnx but i already tried that, i may be 16 but im not a newb, lol(saw the "hard reset" bit highlighted after i posted), the bootloader does work but id rather wait for a better solution for a bit, lol i'm scared!
Guest martin Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 OK but if your phone won't boot up then a hard reset is really your only solution. You simply select 'Erase IPSM' from the bootloader menu and the press and hold down the power button until the phone starts booting up. The phone will stay on both the Orange screen and then the MS screen for several minutes but just leave it and it should recover.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 You do not need Activsync to run the update and this should be done from the canary screen as it's more reliable than doing it from a fully booted phone. As above I would not run the update to fix the phone, that is the last resort.
Guest martin Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 As above I would not run the update to fix the phone, that is the last resort. Yep, if IPSM is overloaded then the new ROM update might still struggle :D I would definitely erase IPSM either way.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 Or even the IPSM :D getting tired martin :D
Guest SMYKUL Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 lol, ive swallowed my pride and done it, gonna take a while to get it back in order though. all those shortcuts, so little time ! Thanks you two. (btw i'm not gay just happy that my phone is working again ! :D )
