Guest punker Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 Hi everybody, I installed some time ago an app on my SPV (Smartphone 2002), and deleted it afterwards manually with the help of SmartExplorer. My problem: The deinstaller (AppMgr???) still lists the app even if I cannot find any data with any name similarity. When I try to deinstall it, it simply tells me it could not delete the app. I thought I would have to install the app again, but wrong again: The app-installer notices an error and doesn't accept the installation. Now I'm stuck!!!! Can somebody help me? Boris
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted June 26, 2004 Report Posted June 26, 2004 Hi Boris :D You should have backed up the AppMrg folder to your PC instead of erasing them in your phone. Installation informations like install path/directory and remove entries are stored in the *.tmp files inside AppMgr. Each program installed onto your phone will create a folder in the AppMgr of IPSMWindows , together with the *.tmp file. Example: If you install SmartExplorer onto your phone, it will create a folder 'Binarys - SmartExplorer' in IPSMWindowsAppMgr. The folder will contain 'FC00.tmp'. The *.tmp file contains info regarding installation. If you have numerous applications installed, expect that there would also be a lot of AppMgr folder entries which occupies significant space in your IPSM. You can backup the entire AppMgr folder to your PC so that you'll get more free IPSM space. After which you can also import or 'restore' manually individual AppMgr folder in case you want to uninstall or re-install an updated version of the app. The problem with a blank (due to deletion) AppMgr folder is that you can no longer uninstall or even re-install programs. Possible solution: Taking the above example, if you want to re-install/uninstall say SmartExplorer, you can copy 'Binarys - SmartExplorer' folder (from a friend's phone) then manually import the folder to your phone's AppMgr folder.
