Guest panub Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 Hi Guys! After a nice night downtown i walked home. it started to rain pretty heavy and i walked in the rain for 10 minutes, with the phone in my pocket safely. My Motorola mpx-200 already was switched off also because my battery ran empty earlier that night. Then 100 metres before my appartement the phone started vibrating like hell and it suddenly came to life a little, although i didnt even touched the power button. And now, the day after, the motorola won't even give a sample of life its completely dead. no lights no display no sounds compete dead. I kept it in my pocket during the rainfall, but somehow it seems that only a little damp has shortcircuited it. i only had it for a month! what can i do and has somebody some experience with this?? Thanks, Panub, the Netherlands
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 If you have only had it one month I would take it back to the shop and have it exchanged under warranty as I would be surprised the rain caused this unless you managed to get really wet :? If you bought the phone secondhand then remove the battery and leave the phone in a warm dry place for three or four days to try to dry it out.
Guest John.medhurst Posted June 26, 2004 Report Posted June 26, 2004 Yeah, if it's not covered under warranty/insurance... just leave it around a radiator and give it a good shake to remove all water. Then if all else fails use a hairdryer - My friend's bag filled up with rain water a few years ago and her Nokia 3210 was submerged for 2hrs. Took two days of shaking, careful drying and the like to bring it back from the brink... Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest sjeemsnl Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 well mine "drank" half a beer during the match holland vs Sweden and it didnt have any problems downing it in one. (maby it gave the dutch the luck they needed) but now sometimes my phone doesnt give any sound through the speakerphone during an ordinary call. pressing the back of the flip seems to help and a hard reset gave me the idea of improvement. any ideas what the problem(apart from beer) could be? thanx in advance! Guest MadSci Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 All I can say is that my Nokia 7260 did not survive the washing machine. Such is the fate of a 'Pocket' phone. MadSci
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 Best thing that could happen to a Nokia :D :D

Guest panub Posted July 12, 2004 Report Posted July 12, 2004 I planned to mail my MPX-200 back to the store today (i bought it on the internet) but yesterday after being in a, what now seems to be a coma, the phone came back to life all of a sudden.... And he pretended like nothing happened. Im a very happy man again, and thanks for the advice!
