Naming phone for bluetooth ???

Can anyone tell me 2 things ??

1. How do i change the name that my pc sees when it connects to my E200. (via Bluetooth)

2. How do i change the pc name to conect via Activesync ??

I have just bought the phone from someone and want to change these details.

you can change your name in settings / user information

The entries you are refferring to are named when you pair with the device. Theres a step to name connections. you could delete your partnerships etc and make tham again, seems ott though.

Can anyone help with this ?? Try as i might i can't find where to change the phone name from the previous owner to mine in either bluetooth or sync :oops:

Delete the partnership with the phone disconnected, then

create a new partnership.

i see what you mean but whenever i reconect to create a new partnership it eventually comes up with ******phone instead of allowing me to name my own device.

I had this problem when i bought a second hand E100 but can't remember how i got round it.

You can reset the user name in the registry but unfortunately

I do not have an e200 to hand so cannot give you the exact

location you need.

I definitely did this with the E100 but just can't remeber how.

it wasnt anything to do with registry though (too hard for me)

www.customcabbage.co.uk allows you to change the activesync name and to change the BT name have a look under BT settings where you can change the name and request a passkey to be used.

I think i found the bit to change the sync name , i created a cab file which i saved to my pc (am i right so far) ?

Now i guess the cab needs to go to the phone ?? where and how ??

Couldn't see anything about Bluetooth though

if you access that site from the phone (on gprs or passthrough) the file will be transferred to the phone automatically when you select teh corret link. just run it then

Cheers Ian I got it done , now all i have to do is find out how to do the same with bluetooth.

Talking Bluetooth , is it not possible to send / receive with Bluetooth (Pics , tones etc ) ??

Assuming you have the latest e200 Orange UK ROM, just go to the programme called "BT Settings", you'll be able to change the bluetooth name there.

To send files over BT you'll need the latest version of Smart Explorer.
