Using a '3' contract SIM card on an unlocked SPV E100?

Hi,

As the title suggests, I'm thinking of getting a 3 contract deal (these half price ones seem great) and sticking it in my soon to be redundant SPV E100. The phone with the best deal on 3 is the NEC 313, which looks like a terrible phone, and seeing as I'm not bothered about features exceot sending messages and making calls, I don't really care what phone the SIM card is in. I'll just sell the NEC 313 as soon as I get it.

Has anyone here tried using a 3 SIM card in another phone? Any success? If I couldn't get the E100 unlocked, then I'd probably stick it in a nokia 8310 - would this work?

Any advice much appreciated.

Alex :D

The 3 sim will work in certain phones but you would only be able to connect to the O2 service side and not the actual 3 network.

3 sim cards used to work in non 3 phones, but 3 recently updated there service and sim cards. My 3 sim has failed to work in all my smartphones and on my xda2. From what i understand this was the idea behind the new sim cards ertc, so its unlikely your sim card will work in a smartphone.

It doesn't work here. 3 are tying in IMEI numbers with access to the O2 network. They can tell whether a 3 customer is using a 3 phone or a 2.5G one. They will send a new USIM to such users (trust me it happened to me!!!)

ouch....3HK is offering free unlocks on the phones now so you can use 2G cards on them....since the phones are SO buggy and CRAP reception
