SD Card not allowing to be written to

Hi all,

I just received a Bytestor 256MB SD card this morning, popped it in my SPV E200 and tried to format it with SP TasK Manager but I get an error saying 'error while formatting card'. (the card isnt write protected.) I've tried the 'clear storage' tool on the phone and this hasn't worked either and I've tried a hard reset in the hope this would work. Has anyone out there got any ideas on this one. If I try to copy a file to the card thru windows explorer, I end up with explorer hanging.

I know other cards work so all I can think of is that this card is knackered.

Any ideas????

Welcome to the site :D

I've not heard of that make before but the E200 can be fussy

to which cards it can and can't use. Cards for the e200 need to be single layer as dual layer can cause problems.

The other thing you can try is to format the card using a USB

card reader which you can buy cheaply from places such as www.ebuyer.com

had the same problem with these cards, bytestor replaced it with one that worked on the e200 after contacting their support people

Having the same problems with my Kingston 256MB card. I'm pretty sure it's a Toshiba with a sticker of Kingston's but then again it might be genuine... it came from Malaysia btw. Anyways, it has these garbled directories which when I try to delete says that it contains invalid characters (The SD card is unlocked btw). And judging by the posts some talk about a dual layer SD? What is it? Maybe that's what 's causing the problem with my Tanager. Any utility out there that formats SD without having to do a Hard Reset? Tried Binary's Task Manager to no avail.

Any help/suggestion much appreciated. Thanks. :P

OT: Searching the web I came looking for the exact model of the SD card and it turns out that most pics that I found are of Toshiba's. Is there a blue cased 256MB Kingston? Not the elite.. just plain vanila. It should be a black cased SD card right?
