quoting Cartman....

"respect my authority!"

My MPx200 will not respect the custom ringers I set for certain contacts. Any idea how or what needs to be done to make this nonsense stop?

Make sure the ringtones are in the following folder,

IPSMApplication DataSounds

Custom ringtones for individual contacts cannot be placed on the storage card.

They are located there, for some contacts the ringer I select is used. One other contacts it isn't, it's like I have to go back and select it again.

Oh well, I'll that when I catch them I guess.

There was great deal of discussion at one time about contacts not working properly for name, ringtones and pictures etc on incoming calls. Basically if the contact name was at the top of the search then its details were found quickly and all woeked correctly but if the contact name was towards the end of the search then a timeout occured before all the details could be collected and defaults were used instead. Obviously this problem only occured for a very large number of stored contacts/tel numbers.

The i600 got a patch to fix it but I'm not sure about the MPX200. Strange because I haven't heard anyone mention this problem lately (for any phone) :?

I do remember that 'Photo contacts' came out with the first solution.

I'm not sure of this is what you are experiencing.

Be aware that PhotoContacts can conflict with the custom Ringtones, despite their disclaimers.

Again, my experience suggests this is related to the number of contacts in your database.

Basically, when pressed on this, PocketX acknowledged that they are aware that there is a limitation to the number of Contacts that you can use successfully, all though they deny any responsibility for this, saying it is not THEIR software, but the OS that is at fault. True perhaps, but let's face it, if they know their product WILL NOT WORK with a large database, they ARE responsible for making that clear BEFORE they sell it to you.

Hey PocketX, can you tell I'm a little PO'd at you for selling me a Pig in a Poke? Well, tough. Try being straight with your prospective customers, or at least, refunding them their money when they catch you out.

I uploaded my .wav files into the sound folder but when I try to use it as a ringer, it won't play that ringer, instead it plays a default beep. Can MPX play any .wav file as a ringer? Even if I convert an .mp3 song to a .wav song? Thanks.

The files you are selecting are not compatable, hence the beep.

WAVs need be formatted PCM 22,050 Hz, 8 Bit, Mono Windows Sound Recorder can convert to this for you.

Thanks awarner,
