I can't check my pop3 e-mail from my spv! I used to be able to do this, but now it just gives the "you must disable inbox syncing with activesync from the desktop" message. I've done this and still get the message!

I've got this problem too. I'm not quite sure what you mean about redoing the email setup. Every time I set up email on the phone, I get the message, even though I have disabled syncing on ActiveSync.

The box on ActiveSync for email synchronization is already unticked.

go to your inbox then press menu--then options--then down to email options---just keep pressing next through all the options because they should still be there off last time.(if it tells you you need to disable active sync and do you want to continue--just continue it will ask you if you want to remove all the emails from the other service press yes or no its up to you. then check email as normal.

The problem with that is that Send/Receive is greyed out, so I can't select it.

Ha ha, I had this before and it drove me absolutely nuts :x

Two things, if I remember right.

1 Goto PC Activesynch-options and de-tick inbox

2 Disconnect USB cable from phone and then goto SPV E-mail setup.

You should then get the message to MECX was talking about.

I'm not even using USB (though I've tried), I'm using IrDA! I do get the message described, but at the end of it, I'm still left with the greyed out Send/Receive.

Thanks for the help!

Yeah. It completes fine, though I've noticed that when I go through the process again having fiddled with ActiveSync etc, all the information I've entered has been lost.

if you go through the options to the end the send recieve should not be greyed out anymore. you have to fill in all the information as well if i remember rightly. Posted from my SmartPhone!

This is what happens.

I go Options, Email set-up. I then get the alert, telling me that I am currently synchronising my mail with ActiveSync, even though I am not, and the box to do so is unticked in ActiveSync.

I then choose Yes to continue, and get the nessage asking if I want to configure my phone to receive email messsages, which I choose Next to.

I then enter all the information: name; email; server type; incoming server; outgoing server; network; username; password; domain (i leave it blank).

The the Set-up complete! message comes up, and I click finish.

Immediately, the alert asking if I want to clear all messages from the old service comes up, to which I click yes.

I then click done.

However, when I choose Menu, Send/Receive Email, it is greyed out, and cannot be selected.

very strange man. try switching your phone off and taking the batt out for a minute and then do the setup again. if this dont work it might be a hardreset. or maybe a regedit if someone knows about this?? Posted from my SmartPhone!

oh maybe go to activesync options on your phone and switch inbox sync off as well as on your pc. Posted from my SmartPhone!oh maybe go to activesync options on your phone and switch inbox sync off as well as on your pc. Posted from my SmartPhone!

I don't really want to do a hard reset, and I've tried a soft reset. I've also tried disabling syncronizing the inbox from ActiveSync on the phone. I'm currently in touch with Orange themselves, who seem equally baffled by it. I don't really expect them to solve it though, so my only hope seems to be here. Orange have tried to send a configurator, and that didn't help.

Orange have never seen this before, but are going to give a ring back on Friday. The guy I spoke to suggested phoning Hays, which I might do, but my past experience with them suggests they won't be much help.

I really don't want to do a hard reset, but I'm quite happy editing the registry. The bloke at Orange was pretty convinced that I should be able to fix it in the Registry, but I can't find the relavent key to change.

Have you tried recreating the Activesync partnership?

I've tried that, to no avail. I am pretty convinced that I need a registry edit.

try syncing using the usb then doing the email setup on your phone again. it might be the infrared sync that wont let the setting in the reg change. grasping at straws tho. a hard reset isnt so bad. just takes a bit of time sticking the programs back on. good luck tho Posted from my SmartPhone!try syncing using the usb then doing the email setup on your phone again. it might be the infrared sync that wont let the setting in the reg change. grasping at straws tho. a hard reset isnt so bad. just takes a bit of time sticking the programs back on. good luck tho Posted from my SmartPhone!

I've tried that, in fact that was the first thing Orange told me to do, so you're not the only one clutching at straws.

I'll probably wait until Friday when Orange are going to get back to me, having spoken to "Michael", who apparently knows everything there is to know about the SPV and SPV E100, before doing a hard reset.

One thing that's just occurred to me is that it might have something to do with my changing the ActiveSync Name in the registry, having already syncronized prior to this. Hmmm........any comments? Btw, I don't remember the original name, but I seem to recall that it involved E100.

Well, the guy I spoke to was incredibly helpful, and in fact phoned me back numerous times today, which gives me some hope. I'll give it a go at starting a new partnership with another name, and I'll post the results.

I've fixed it, which is nice. As I thought, all it needed was a Registry modification. I don't know which one did the trick, but I have a feeling it was the latter, but maybe it require both. I deleted the "ActiveSync" key under "HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftInboxSyncServiceProviders", and the "Mail" value under the "HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftAirSyncSettings" key.

I'm still not really sure why this happened though!
