Hi I am after an upgrade can get the E200 for free now on my contract, what is it like overall as a phone (I have the original SPV at the mo).

I know the new smartphones are gonna be announced this week, but will the e200 still stand up against these?

What I mean is that the E200 will be free for me, whereas the C500 will prob cost >£100 and not drop till about crimbo, the Moto 220 is still to be announced.

Also the C500 et all will be using Mini-SD, all my devices digi-cam, Ipaq, SPV are all SD.

Apart from the size, faster, what are the other benifits to pay a lot of money to get the C500 over the free E200? I could always wait until next year after 12 months and get the C500 or whatever then.

If I had a choice now I would love the Moto 220, My mate has a moto 200 at the mo and its a nice phone, but this time I want a intergrated cam and Bluetooth in.

So come on I know we cant directly compare (well some of us can Paul!?!) the E200 and the C500 but with the specs etc out now what do you think.

cheers

Well, the E200 is great compared to many devices, it would definately be an improvement on your original SPV, but wouldn't you be able to wait three months and then get the C500 (which should be as improved again as the E200 is over the original)? On a contract it would likely be free on the internet (on a 200min contract anyway).

The E200 is good now, but in four months it'll be old news. It's not part of the new generation of Smartphones and as a result will be left behind...

Personally...There's nothing that overly compels me to run out and purchase one of the new models....YET!

I dont notice any major bugs in my e200. So unless the "SE" OS offers something major...I can't justify buying something new just yet. And I'm normally easily swayed into buying new phones every 6 months or so.

Now the MPX PPCPE...I may be swayed into that one. But I'm not crazy about the keyboard, so I'll have to wait to physically try it out when it arrives. I'd rather have a PPCPE with no keyboard...but retain the dimensions of the MPX screen.

Well I dont really want to wait any longer, I have been able to upgrade since may 24th and I normally get a new phone straight away, this is the longest I have waitied over my 12 months, purely because I read about the new phones coming.

I understand that the E200 will be "old" when the C500 etc come out, but when I got my orignal SPV the E100 came out about 2 months later.

I dont want to spend much on a phone, prefer to get accessories or whatever, with the E200 going to be free to me then it sounds better.

I want to know what the bugs are? the SD one annoying? what else? My SPV is great apart from the speed, and the screen is washy in sunlight, also want a camera and BT.

anyone else?

cheers so far, (cant wait till the weekend, hopefully the new phones will be announced and my orange shop willl have some E200 back in stock)

cheers

I'm more than happy with my E200, if you dont want to pay too much, upgrade now & upgrade again next year.

paff (and others) do you use BT for other things as well as your M3000 headset? to send to other different types of mobile phones and Ipaqs/PPC's?

I noticed you had a original SPV like I have now, whats the E200 like compared to that? is itr faster? better screen in real life usage(I know it has one but whats it really like in sunlight etc)

Whats the cam like? video recording on it?

what extras do you recommend for the E200? I have the safe2talk car kit and a seperate car charger for the SPV(off ebay), will these work on my E200 ok?

thanks and keep the comments coming pls

Don't get me wrong I do like the E200 in comparison to the original SPV and E100, but I'm eagerly awaiting a smartphone (MS) that has decent BT, I have had nothing but trouble with the BT on the E200, not saying that the MPx220 will be any better but seeing as it is not being manufactured for Orange and is by a company that seems to have more experience in electronics I'm willing to risk it, especially seeing as my life revolves a lot more around wireless technology now.

As far as software bugs are concerned, I expect them in everything, the build quality in general in todays society isn't that great for the majority of products, we are generally as a species getting quite complacent IMO.

If you can't wait then the E200 would be a great improvement for you, just be warned cause once you are onto the E200 it's a case of being hooked on the raised standards that keep coming out from future phones. (Orange care I would definately recommend as I'd say you'd have a high chance of having to do some warrenty repair on it, haven't had a smaprtphone yet that I haven't had to send back for some dodgy build quality problem.)

Good luck with your desicion let us know how you go :D
