Guest Simon Desser Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 Thanks to MoDaCo member Martin for the heads up on this one :D The MPx220 is now on Motorola's website, with lots of pictures and more details. http://www.motorola.com/motoinfo/product/d...s/0,,53,00.html http://www.motorola.com/motoinfo/product/i...s/0,,53,00.html EDIT:- It seems that Motorola very quickly removed this from their website, but here's a screenshot taken from my Temporary Internet Files :D MPX220 on Moto site.jpgMPx220 Specs.gif
Guest Rob.P Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 Gonna wait a little after it's release to see what the bugs are but on initial thoughts I'm definitely gonna be upgrading to this, need to get rid of this Shoddy Performance Volitile E200
Guest nato Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 I like,I like, I like.....does anyone know if the joystick is 5-way? :D/
Guest Maverick Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 On the moto website, near the bottow, It says SUMMARY OF FEATURES: • Microsoft Pocket PC 2003 operating system allows compatibility with all Pocket PC applications What the hell is that supposed to mean?? tut tut.. Proof reading needed..
Guest Pondrew Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 Maverick: that had me scratching my head too. Guess they've just got confused on the difference between Windows Mobile for Smartphone and Windows Mobile Pocket PC edition. Either that or they decided to put the latter on this even though it seems more suited to the former?! :?
Guest stevem999 Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 Looks like the moto-monkey might be writing stuff about MPX220 and the MPX and getting confused - the MPX definitely runs on Pocket PC, but think we're all pretty sure that the 220 is on Windows Mobile for Smartphones.
Guest midnight Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 hehe, its definitely Windows Mobile 2003 SE and its definitely a Smartphone not a PPC, no 'maybe' about it :D
Guest midnight Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 nato, i have been told its definitely 9 way, how easy it is to actually press the diagoinals is another matter though (same goes for the C500)
Guest nato Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 Cool ! - this is my next handset then !
Guest hoogerhuis Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 It seems that the official photo's differ from the one from the leaked video. The phone on the Motorola website seems to have Smartphone 2003 and not 2003 SE (I miss the Windows logo next to start). Also (as already seen by other forum members) the statement is partly a copy of the one for the MPx PocketPC. Also: does the MPx220 have a blue external screen or a color external screen. The official photo's (drawings?) are not clear enough.
Guest midnight Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 those 'official' photos arent actually photos, but computer generated renders, which have been posted both here and on coolsmartphone several months ago. Wait until tomorrow for proper pictures of the phones from Paul.
Guest zeta101 Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 the images on the moto site look computer draw (at the very least the screens would have been added by computer after the photos were taken) so the fact that you cant see the windows icon doesnt mean much, moto just screwed up a bit, and considering the guy who wrote the blurb about it titally messed it up and had bits of the mpx blurb in there i doubt he would have noticed the missing icon. Also, the video shows it has a colour screen, so it must have.
Guest Pagemakers Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 Also a full page spread in July's T3 magazine.
Guest theanarch1st Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 Not Found The requested URL /motoinfo/product/details/0,,53,00.html was not found on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. pages seemed to have been removed for changes i'm guessing :D hope we see some real stuff coming outta moto now instead of that rubbish
Guest superglaze Posted July 2, 2004 Report Posted July 2, 2004 Hi all I posted this on another thread too, but it's worth repeating here - according to two seperate people I've spoken to at Orange stores here in the UK, the mpx220 will be a hold-in-your hand reality for us consumers in about a fortnight or so, i.e. mid-July. Huzzah :?:
Guest Maverick Posted July 2, 2004 Report Posted July 2, 2004 Is that in Orange standard time ? A week could actually be a month.. u know :D
Guest midnight Posted July 2, 2004 Report Posted July 2, 2004 Hi all I posted this on another thread too, but it's worth repeating here - according to two seperate people I've spoken to at Orange stores here in the UK, the mpx220 will be a hold-in-your hand reality for us consumers in about a fortnight or so, i.e. mid-July. Huzzah :?: strange, cos the motorola peeps at TechEd seem to think it will be September :D
Guest martin Posted July 2, 2004 Report Posted July 2, 2004 strange, cos the motorola peeps at TechEd seem to think it will be September  Maybe it's September for the US :D  :D
Guest kingbing Posted July 2, 2004 Report Posted July 2, 2004 Maybe it's September for the US :D  :D I don't think so. There were a couple of problems with the handset I had a quick play with - namely the external screen was a bit shite. Very poor quality, and terrible refresh rate when displaying the camera view. The rep said that there were some features were still being "optimised".
Guest martin Posted July 3, 2004 Report Posted July 3, 2004 Maybe it's September for the US Hee hee. Just a little joke  Yeah, July seems to be hot favourite at the moment. It's been mentioned a few times before about the external screen not being very good on the MPX220 :? but I don't think that bothers me to much. Hopefully I might be able to get myself an MPx and a smartphone (either C500 or MPX220) :D
Guest dapimp18 Posted July 3, 2004 Report Posted July 3, 2004 i email orange uk an the rep said: Dear Anthony Thank you for the mail. I can confirm that the Motorola mpx 220 is due to be released onto the Orange network during July, however this is subject to change. As yet we have no indication of price. So hopefully it comes in july
Guest Simon Desser Posted July 12, 2004 Report Posted July 12, 2004 I've added a screenshot of the website on the first post, and here's the "Consumer Fact Sheet" before Motorola removed it :wink:MPx220 Consumer Fact sheet.doc
