Guest xrlife Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5707045367&rd=1 I'm desperate for the windows mobile 2003. Found this, but not desperate enough. If this guy can update and make the phone truely work. Then there might be a chance for a leak or so. If anyone is going to try it, please post results here.
Guest kurtfhouse Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 People already have tried it, someone over at MPx200.org gave the bloke a thumbs up :D Only downside is he only does the USA, have contacted him re buying a copy of the rom for his European counterparts but he wanted $3000 for it! He did say though if I could find enough people to all send there phones to reduce shipping costs from the UK he would do it for us.
Guest mischievous Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 I just might consider this. Price isn't bad. I'd have better Outlook/Exchange capability using 2003, among other things. Why would I really buy the mpx220 then? I don't need a cheap built-in camera. Yes bluetooth would be nice, but I still get to use my 1GB SD card keeping my mpx200. Thinking.... :?
Guest neostar Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 I am stuned this hasn't been leaked to be honest, especially given the fact people could get their phone flashed for free at that developer confrence.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 Thing is though is it really needed on the mpx200? Personally I do not see the point.
Guest coyspiracy Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 forget this. i cant live without my phone even for just one day. ill wait for the leak.
Guest xrlife Posted July 2, 2004 Report Posted July 2, 2004 Well, I was hoping the MPX-220 would come out soon. My other phone broke, so I did some research on the next phone I should get. I'm pretty new at this smart phone stuff, and after reading the reviews of the mpx-200, it seems to be overall rating of good. Now the only problem is that i'd rather have up to date stuff (windows mobile 2003) rather than something that will become outdated soon (literally). I just don't undersand how such a popular OS for the mpx-200 hasn't been leaked onto the net yet. I can basically get any software/program, basically anything stored as data could be found. But this 2003 ROM for the mpx-200 is becoming an annoyance to find.

Better not get an MPX200 then as while it is an excellent phone, in a few months it will also be out of date :D
Guest scott2eyes Posted July 2, 2004 Report Posted July 2, 2004 What does 2003 offer that 2002 doesn't? (Apart from .NET support, and not being able to get support from the network should anything go wrong?)
Guest smeg36 Posted July 2, 2004 Report Posted July 2, 2004 With 2003 Inbox will support multiple email accounts. Pocket IE has a great setting called One Column that adjusts the web pages so you don't have to scroll sideways. The OS as a whole performs faster. There is another game, Jawbreaker. Text looks cleaner and crisper with the Cleartype. I have had a couple 2003 phones (Developers Phone, etc.), and it is just an overall better OS.
