SPV E200 with Windows Smartphone 2003 SE

Is it possible to upgrade an E200 from Orange to 2003 SE ?

I am told that I cannot because HTC has put a carrier lock on the ROM so a generic ROM cannot be put on it.

Has anyone done this or when this comes out (officially) will it be possible?

My phone works in a non-smart way now. I cannot use an SD Card and Bluetooth HBH-60 due to battery drain. The only way I get a decent battery life is to remove these two smart features and use it as normal phone. Does anyone know if these are/will be fixed in 2003 SE. I have read all the threads around upgrading to an I-MATE ROM etc but would like to hear from somone who has 2003 SE experiences.

Ok. I did some research on the web and I found that HTC may have locked the E200 from preventing it from being upgraded. Does anyone know if this is true. I will not be able to put any other ROM besides the one from Orange ?

flash to the i-mate rom.i can confirm its a great rom!!!i am on my second day with out charging the phone.thats 2 days.i could never do that with the new orange rom.so far the i-mate rom is the best.bluetooth and sd card work great!!!! :D :D

Hi, there is no such a thing as a windows mobile 2003 second edition released to any smartphone.

There may be some beta roms out there, but never reachead the public.

All existing rom's out there are windows mobile 2003 but not second edition.

As you can see there are a lot of menbers out there wich have upgraded to other carriers with sucess.

All you have to do is dig a little on the site and you will find the way to solve your problems.

That's the great thing of being part of such a great site.

Thank you both for your help. I will try the imate ROM on this phone. Perhaps this will make it better than what I have today.
