Guest Mewcenary Posted July 2, 2004 Report Posted July 2, 2004 Hi all, Can someone confirm whether the internal SPV E200 microphone is switched off when a headset is in use? Some tests I have just done here seem to indicate this isn't the case: 1. Plug in headset. Confirm "Headset" profile now in use. 2. Phone my land line with SPV. 3. Rub SPV microphone (well away from headset) with finger -- here the resulting noises on land line. The headset is working fine. However, the internal microphone remaining on is causing me major issues, as I'm attempting to use the SPV on a motorbike. I have some excellent wind-proof active filter kit in use for this, but it is instantly rendered useless if the SPV internal microphone is enabled!
Guest badboy4life Posted July 2, 2004 Report Posted July 2, 2004 I think your phone needs repairing. I had this problem with my original SPV and once I had it repaired it worked perfectly.
Guest Mewcenary Posted July 2, 2004 Report Posted July 2, 2004 Damn :D It's just so weird - the headset works fine with the SPV in every way. It's just negated by the internal SPV microphone staying on. :D
Guest Mewcenary Posted July 3, 2004 Report Posted July 3, 2004 I've done some further testing on this issue. It seems that the Headset microphone is not being recognised by the phone at all. This is probably why the E200 is deciding to use its internal mic instead. So either it is an issue with the Headset or the adaptor cable I am using. I have tested the E200 with the ORange-supplied headset (which doesn't use an adaptor cable) and that works correctly.

Mine does this SOMETIMES too, here's a workaround, it's not ideal, but it works for me :D Before you're getting on your bike, ring your landline from your E200, as soon as it starts ro ring, plug your headset in to the phone, then hang up. Now do your "rub test" again, the internal mic should NOW be off :D

I checked it wasn't the kit itself earlier today by plugging it all into my old Nokia 7650 where it all worked fine. Oh, another way of doing your fix, I've found: Phone someone (e.g. Orange on 150 so it is free!) and plug the headset in at that point. It has the same effect.
