Guest Dr Who Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Pretty much ever since I have had my E100 (like, a year) it has turned itself off. Often. I carry it in my pocket in a Krussell case. I have had a replacement handset AND a replacement battery and am about to swap it in for another handset. I also about to upgrade but that's a separate point. Does anyone else suffer from this problem. I raised it once before and the respondents said it didn't effect them. So, is it my phone? Or the case? Or the fact it's in my pocket? Also, last time I phoned they couldn't supply me with a new E100 (hence the battery replacement) - if they still can't supply one can I demand an equivalent replacement (i.e. an E200)? And does anyone know if I can use these problems to knock a few quid off the upgrade price to a C500 when it is released?
Guest mattscholey Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 I get exactly the same problem, with the 2 E100s I've had recently. Very annoying - take it out of my pocket and find it's turned off. Even more annoying if your trying to phone me. Only seems to happen when it's in my pocket, not when its lying on a table, although this might also be due to the fact that when it's been in my pocket, I've made a call on it. You should be able to get an equivalent replacement with Orange, especially if youve had 3 E100s all with the same problem. I can't be bothered to do this. I'd be very surprised if they'll give you an upgrade discount because of this - if it's faulty its a replacement or nothing. And I managed to get a replacement e100 on Care about 4 weeks ago. Matt
Guest Dr Who Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 Yeah, does only seem to be when it is in my pocket. Have been offered replacement, but the suggested was the Nokia 7250i. Hmmmm, not EXACTLY an equivalent replacement - why they can't offer the E200 I don't know. I am of the opinion that there is a lose connection (i.e. SIM or battery) that get's wobbled in the pocket and switches the handset off. Handset number 3 turned itself off last night. I am going to upgrade ANYWAY but I am hoping to get an E200 or something BEFORE I do. We'll see. Peace
Guest SMYKUL Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 Since this is not a common problem, it may be due to some kind of localised radio signals, we've heard weirder things. try switching it to aeroplane mode when your not gonna use it for a while.
Guest Dr Who Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Hadn't thought about the temperature issue. The case/pocket combo could allow heat to build up I guess. I am assuming there is no cooling of the chip inside but maybe it can shutdown if it gets too hot? However latest phone doesn't *appear* to have turned itself off again so I am hoping this one will be OK. For the next few weeks.
