Guest ethianate Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Hi, I tried to install a skin on my mpx200 it was a .hme file and the skin is called XP SPV the link to the page I have put below. Now, I do everything the instructions tell me to do on how to install it, and when I've installed it it says installation was successful but nothing changes on my home screen, why is this? what am I doing wrong?
Guest Brody Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 Welcome to the site :D Depending on how well the installer is written the skin should load on your phone upon installation. As it isn't have you tried manually selecting the skin in the settings>Home screen setting?
Guest ethianate Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 I have tried manually selecting it from the home screen list and when I return to the home screen I get the time icon thing like when you are waiting but then nothing changes, I dont understand why they dont work, I have got .zip file skins to work just copying the files over to the phone.
Guest Brody Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 Is it just this one skin? Have you tried others that are cab files of hme files?
Guest ethianate Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 I have tried it with a couple and the same thing happens, I've not tried it with a .cab file because there are no skins in .cab format that I want. Do you think it's something to do with the .xml file or am I doing something wrong? I copy the .hme file to ISPMwindowsstartmenuto install (a directory I created), it seems to run fine and tells me that it installed successfully.
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 @ethianate Have you tried this? http://spv.gavoille.com/produits/prod.php?...lg=en&art=smcab :D
Guest ethianate Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 I downloaded that smartcab thing, but how does it work and what is it supposed to do I dont understand it, I installed it and tried to run it but nothing happens, what is it????
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 Ahh. You have to install the app in your PC. Once installed, you can now transfer/install cab and hme files. 1. Sync phone to PC. 2. Select a cab or hme on your PC 3. Right click mouse then 4. Choose 'Install to SPV' or equivalent. 5. Wait for further instructions in your phone screen (the target directory). Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Disco Stu Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 A couple of thoughts : 1. You have application unlocked your phone ? It sounds like it, just checking  2. The skin is called XP SPV but you're trying to install it on an MPX200. Perhaps there is something that makes it incompatible ? I seem to remember having difficulties with this skin myself on my E200..
Guest ethianate Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 I installed SmartCab and tranferred the file over and it works fine now. The only problem I have now is that I want to install callface but it wont install, it just says "installation failed".

Guest ethianate Posted July 17, 2004 Report Posted July 17, 2004 sorry but I dont understand any of that stuff. I think I've got the same problem, when I go down the menu onto "messages" it just shows Email(0) SMS(0) MMS(0) on the task bar, how can I get the proper menu to show?
Guest ethianate Posted July 17, 2004 Report Posted July 17, 2004 What is JMMS? What does it do and how do I get it? I went to that site cabbage or something but I dont understand anything on there, please help!
Guest martin Posted July 17, 2004 Report Posted July 17, 2004 JMMS is the MMS software which is stored in the phone (and on the CD if you need to restore after a hard reset). The cabbage site is for creating a cab file (like a a self installing ZIP file) Go to www.customcabbage.co.uk and select Phone Model=MPX200 and tick Jmms FIX. Click Cabbage it. It should let you download a file to the PC. Using activesync, copy the file to the phone in IPSMWindowsStart MenuAccessories. Then on the phone click Programs and find the Accessories folder. Click on the cab file.
Guest ethianate Posted July 17, 2004 Report Posted July 17, 2004 ok, I went to the cabbage site and did what you said and this is what I saw:- Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/cabbage/public_html/cabbage.php on line 79 Warning: unlink(stopper.txt): No such file or directory in /home/cabbage/public_html/cabbage.php on line 80 Your CAB has been created with a unique random name... (f193a722xxx.cab). Once installed it will be listed in Remove Programs as: CustomCABbage Do I still download the file???? is it ok? what are the error messages?
Guest martin Posted July 17, 2004 Report Posted July 17, 2004 I suspect it's not using the selected cab name for some reason :? I've have just tried cabbage, ignoring error and downloading random cab name, and it worked fine :P
Guest ethianate Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 I tried copying it to where you said and I installed the cab file, it said it was installed successfully but nothing has changed, so I need to re-install the skin now for it to work?
Guest ethianate Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 ok, sorry, I re-started my phone and it works fine now, THANKYOU ! :P . Now, how do I get the callface thing to work?lol
