Guest DarkMain Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 Ok, people. I have an O2 XPhone that I bought in Singapore a few months ago, it working fine and dandy back in New Zealand (Where I live) apart from the MMS. I have added all the settings that Vodafone had placed on there site and its now ½ working. I can see messages in my in box, but I can’t download them to view them, and I can’t send. At the moment I have 2 messages waiting for me to view them, but I can’t, and it’s rather frustrating. I was thinking that upgrading to the I-Mate rom might fix this problem (As the only smart phone offered in NZ at the moment it the I-mate) The things I was wondering were…., 1) If I update to I-mate, will I still be able to use the o2 plug-ins? (Things like showing the apps that are currently running, games on the home screen, auto update, and eternal chamber.) 2) If it doesn’t work, or makes things worse (Don’t see how, but you never know) will I be able to go back to my original O2 Rom (as I haven’t been having any problems with it apart from the one described above) 3) What files do I need to back up, and where can they be found? (I have head many people talk about sprite back up, will that do the trick?) 4) If I just do a Hard reset on the phone I have also heard the O2 looses all its “extra” function…, such as plug-ins, home screens… and basically becomes a basic shell. I thinks that’s about it for them moment. Thanks for taking the time to read all this. Steve.
Guest Eoma Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 1. No. You'll be faced with " bla bla bla can only run on O2 Xphone" error messages. 2. No. The O2 ROM is not available for public download (yet). Note that you will void your O2 warranty if you flash the Xphone with another manufacturer's ROM. If you can somehow flash the O2 ROM back however...... 3. Anything stored on the phone (contacts, sms, pics, games, 3rd party apps, homescreens; basically files other than those that came default with the ROM). Files on your SD/MMC card will be left untouched. 4. You will lose the O2 task manager and 1 or 2 other apps (nothing serious) when you do a hard reset. Not to worry though, there are many sites offering the missing files. Search the forum (or any other Xphone forum/Google. ) You're bound to bump into similiar threads.
