Backlight intensity adjustable in registry?

I have noticed that whenever I keep the backlight on permanently the issues such as freezing and switching off during calls does not happen. As leaving it on drains the battery extremely quickly is there anyway of adjusting the intensity through the registry so that it would last longer?

I would like to change backlight intensity also, because it's too bright. :D
