Guest RobPowell Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 okay I've installed the Shell Config 1.3 and all boxes are ticked. When I try to get a web page I get: "error: unable to connect. Verify you have network coverage and try again." All internet settings are set to automatic (no options for orange in manual settings) Also on the old 2002 version it had an orange link to do phone updates etc, is this no longer supported or can I add it to the phone? MMS. I read through all the pages here yet no-one can seem to answer. You can not send an MMS with the 2003 software, but can you receieve? I don't have anyone that can send me one right now to test!! Will be be able to send/receive ever, or any info on this?
Guest TANKERx Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 You need to have special software to send and receive MMS (at least, this is how I understand it). As for the Internet thing, have you tried taking the settings off Automatic and manually specifying the connection for The Internet?
Guest neostar Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 The firmware on your phone originally was orange specific like mine. They configure the GPRS settings for you, so it was all set up out of the box. If you look in the manual it tells you the settings you just have to tap them into 2003. Stuff like the ornage update was pointless anyway, there certainly won't be any updates on there for 2003, and the other stuff such as ringtones and wallpapers wasn't worth the data call. Can't help you on the MMS as yet though, on 2002 it was a bit of software that orange installed, but it doesn't work on 2003. Not sure what the e200 gyus have on.
Guest jamesb Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 All internet settings are set to automatic (no options for orange in manual settings) Rob, I have had the same problem with GPRS, but I did a quick search on the net and managed to find the settings. Go to Settings - Data Connections - Menu Button - Edit Connections - GPRS Connections - Menu Button - Add Then Enter the following Connects to: The internet Access point: orangeinternet Primary DNS: 158.43.192.1 Secondary DNS: 158.43.128.1 Once that is done, keep exiting and make sure that on the data connections screen, whatever you made the description for the orange settings, say, "Orange GPRS" is selected for internet connection:
Guest lutzh Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 for all your people out there having problems with this settings - why dont you use motorola's push settings service to get this done for you including mail settings? check this out: HELLOMOTO isn't that simple? cheers, lutz
Guest robt Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 Ive tried several times today, and so far havent received the settings from the Hellomoto site. I have used it before so I know it can work. Does anyone know if the Email settings are compatible with WM2K3? Thanks

Guest jamesb Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 I had to reenter my settings manually as I couldnt get the hellomoto or orange updates to appear on my phone. To check that the service was working, i used the hellomoto site to send myself settings for a wm2003 phone which I did get, but obviously those didnt work on the phone. Maybe the updates dont work as it is trying to talk to a smartphone 2002 phone? It may be that you will have to do the same as me and enter the settings manually.
Guest flashflash Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 The Hellomoto website doesn't work with WM2003. Only works with the old WM2002.
Guest robt Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 Surely, if they send you an sms with the settings it will at least appear on the phone even if it doesnt work. After all, its just an sms message and I havent in the last two days received any messages from the site. I am quite prepared to believe it wont work with WM2003, the email settings at least.
