Guest MadSci Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 Well here I go again, bending over for another Caning from Motorola for having a large Contacts database! Well, here is my problem, and a plea for help! I've had problems with both custom ringtones and PhotoContacts due to my large Contacts database (around 2100 entries). It may sound odd to many of you, but my business involves working with people around the world, many for decades, and I have been building my Contacts list since the late Paleolithic when we used Win 3.1! I need the list, and I need it on my phone. This was one of the main reasons I bought my MPX200, as it promised to be fully integrated with Outlook. I should have known better. Anyway, to try and improve things, I took the advice I saw on one of these forums, and tried to move the frequently used Contacts to the SIM card, as this is supposedly the first place that is looked at by the Caller ID software. I had previously just dumped the first 250 Contacts onto the card, so I went back in and delated them all from the SIM card. Now when I open SIM manager, and select the "Import: Contacts to SIM" option, it happily processes all 2100-odd Contacts and presents me with the list to choose which to Import. Unfortunately, when I try to select a Contact, the "Action" (ie Blue) button is non-responsive. I can move the selector up and down, but cannot choose a Contact to Import. When I back out of SIM Manager, the Blue button remains inop until I do a soft reset. I've got a fair amount of free memory (about 9Mb), but this is likely an issue with the size of my Contacts list. Does anyone know of a fix, or a better SIM card managment software that might work? [-o< Many thanks as always, MadSci
Guest abatis Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 Try Jeyo Mobile 1.1 SIM Manager, far superior to the IA one that was built into the ROM.
Guest MadSci Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 Thanks abatis, it works nicely and I can edit my SIM card again! Sadly, it hasn't helped the PhotoContacts-RingTones problem. Only one of the numbers stored in the SIM Card gets both the Photo and the Ringtone assigned to it! Thanks again for your help, this group of Users rocks and is great enough that I might even consider buying another Smartphone, but only if you all recommend it this time!
