Bluetooth Active-Sync.... again

Well,

after about 3 days hard work I'm about ready to call it quits...

I've been trying to get my newly aquired Qtek 8080/SPV E200 to sync through bluetooth using:

* WinXP

* Blue USB02 Dongle

usb02max.jpg

* XTNDConnect 3.1

... and it just won't work. I've read EVERY post in this forum and a lot of others adressing the issue with no luck.

Here's what happens.

XTND finds the dongle. Installs 4 virtual COM-ports:

COM4 (Serial)

COM5 (DUN)

COM6 (LAN)

COM7 (FAX)

I manage to pair the phone with XTND. Qtek8080 shows up in list and I "Trust" (Bond) the device and I do the same thing on the phone.

Under Qtek8080s status in XTND it says "In Range (Trusted)" (I've seen it say "Connected" as well, but I don't know how or why)

Now if I change to Allow Serial connection in Active Sync and choose the COM4 (heard it should be the one that says "SERIAL") nothing happens. If I choose COM5 (DUN) Active Sync starts spinning it's green connecting signal and keeps trying to connect until I get a message after about 20 seconds saying:

"Microsoft Active Sync cannot recognize this device for one or two reasons:

* The device was not connected properly. To start over, disconnect the cable and remove the device from it's cradle. Then, connect the cable to the PC, turn on the device in it's cradle. If the device is still not recognized, click Help.

* The device is not a Smartphone or Pocket PC. To keep Active Sync from trying to connect to this or any other device, select the check box below.

[checkbox] Stop Active Sync from lookng for devices"

Needless to say, clicking Help got me nowhere....

Is there something I'm missing?

Would really appreciate the help.

Best Regards.

you tried forcing the sync using the phone - start - more - activsync - menu (right softkey) - connect via bluetooth?

Yes, tried that with just about all the settings I can think of. All COM-ports.

Hi

I don't really know if I can help, but...

I didn't have too many problems connecting with bluetooth, and to be honest im not quite sure what did it. But I did have the same problem as you, the green wheel starts spinning and end up saying that it doesn't recognize the phone. The same thing happens when the connection is lost and the phone tries to connect again, I have to restart at least the phone and some times also the computer :roll:

I think that the COM5 is the right port on your computer, since it starts the wheel.

Have you checked in "my bluetooth places"/"View my Bluetooth services" /"View or modify configuration" under local services that the port are set to com5? And ofcourse that the port in active sync is the same.. (COM5 :D )

I followed this link and it helped me.

To be honest I don't know much about this and as I said I don't know if it helps you.. (Maybe I'm just lucky I ever got it working :wink: )

Pheeeew!!!

Thanks TKJ for your post. I didn't get a chance to read it until after I fixed everything though. Anyway, XTND went out the window, new driver installed (Widcomm) and viola! Syncing like never before....!

I'm a happy man and if anyone needs the driver I'm using, let me know.

Best Regards

Nik
