WM2003 on the MPX200 - Bug list

I hope no one thinks Im being picky or ungrateful here, but it was stated (somewhere) that the great @nonymus wanted to know how we are all getting on with 2003.

For me, there have been a number of issues which have caused me, for the time being to go back to 2002.

I propose we share the problems found here and hopefully, fixes can be found to make the rom more useable.

My findings:-

1. Volume of sounds. Strange behavior, the volume can be quite loud to soft and for no apparent reason. It is always not as strong as 2002, my preferred .wav file ringtone always sounds a bit weak under 2003.

2. GPRS - slow connections. I use Vodafone and the connection to the web is always slower than previously, connecting . . . .

3. Email - unreliable over GPRS. I connect to Pipex via Vodafone and mostly I have received time out messages. I can reliably and quickly connect with 2002. If I try to drop the connection in 2003, the "disconnect" screen sticks until I restart the phone.

4. Key lighting - The key lights switch off after a couple of seconds after use and make the phone difficult to use in the dark, something I regularly do.

5. No MMS - shame, but there it is!

Other than that, my experiences were good. Bit quicker, loved the multiple email accounts (if they worked!). Far better web browser. I fully intend to go back to 2003 as soon as I can rely on it a little bit more.

I was running the original rom, language update and upgraded radio stack.

@nonymus - if youre reading this. Please accept my thanks for your hard work so far and I hope we can tweak these few aspects to make things perfect. I hope you read this in the spirit it is meant, an attempt to bring together the problems and help to bring about the fixes.

I two have had all of these issues. Some detail on number three:

3) The always up-to-date exchange feature is sporadic. My e-mail provider runs Exchange 2003 and supports the always-up-to-date feature (SMS triggers an ActiveSync). I've noticed that my phone only does the syncs once or twice a day, even though I'm receiving multiple e-mails. I noticed one has now occured for two days in a row at 8:01am. I've love for this functionality to work. When I do scheduled ActiveSync updates (like every 15 minutes) it works like a charm. I just wished the SMS triggered syncs would work.

5) This one is more of a feature request than a bug. I'd prefer the other issues to be fixed prior.

Does the 2003 rom have built-in JAVA support? Built in JAVA support would be very nice.

My setup: T-Mobile in Portland OR, USA. "Free WAP" GPRS only.

1. Volume of Sounds. I have noticed this. It is strange but not a deal-breaker.

2. GPRS. Works fine, however I have noticed it stays connected (little G above the signal bars) almost all the time. Not sure if this is a problem. I have *not* upgraded to the new radio stack to avoid hard-resetting again.

3. Email. Works fine.

4. Key lighting. Same behavior as above. Doesn't bother me.

6. Screen Issues. Sometimes when using the phone normally, the screen will just shut off. Pressing a key brings it right back, and it usually happens a second time right after that.

7. Headset mode. This was a problem in 2002, so I doubt it can be fixed, but might as well mention it -- if you plug in a headset during a call, it doesn't switch over correctly (can't hear the other party).

Overall I love it. Much faster than 2002!
