Guest pembo Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 I've had my MPX200 for about 9 months now and have been able to copy files over with ease to the IPSM and SD Card area's of my phone. Earlier today, my phone wouldn't get past the start up screen so I did a hard reset, now when I try to copy any file over 200kb over Active Sync changes to "Not connected" half way through the copy and leaves a half copied file on my device. I've tried more hard resets, reinstalling active sync and changing USB ports.... anyone got any suggestions?
Guest kurtfhouse Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 Don't rule our a problem with the USB cable I recently had a problem with activsyncing and thought it was my phone or my laptop but after taking my laptop down to my local Orange shop and trying a new cable I found out it was the cable all along! I was not impressed I had done numerous hard resets and even rebuilt the laptop twice thinking the USB ports were f#cked Any way I fixed the problem by jamming a penknife into buth ends of the cable and jiggling it round hoping to knock something back into place or scrape some dirt off the connection points, and hey presto :D
Guest kurtfhouse Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 further to my last, if it is the cable, Orange won't replace it and they (or anyone else infact) don't sell them which is helpful  You have to contact Motorola direct and get a new one through your warranty, they can give you the number at OCS cant seem to find it now  .....and you just know that it will take about a week to get the replacement aswell :D
Guest pembo Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 I aren't convinced it'll be a cable problem, it will sync contacts / data all the time, its just copying files, ive tried downgrading from 3.7.1 to 3.6 and still no luck..
Guest kurtfhouse Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 Thats got me stumped :? If it syncs fine I can't see why there should be a problem with files???? Try restarting your pc if you haven't already, its amazing how often that works :D
Guest pembo Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 heh, I've tried re-starting my PC too, uninstalled / re-installed active sync..... The only thing I haven't done (that I can think of) is a complete format of my PC... and I really don't want to do that...
Guest pembo Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 what I'm having to do at the moment to install programs is take my SD Card out from my phone and put it in my SD Card reader and copy the files over, the put it back in the phone and then install, and as you can imagine, its rather time consuming.
Guest kurtfhouse Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 Have you tried going to device manager and deleting the USB connection then rebooting the pc and connecting the phone? You can then set up the connection again Its one of the suggestions on the help web page If you don't want to do a rebuild on your pc you could try IR syncing, it works o.k, I had to do that for a couple of weeks Someone might come up with a solution in the mean time
Guest pembo Posted July 12, 2004 Report Posted July 12, 2004 Just tried this, and still no luck with it.. :D
Guest pembo Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 Just wanted to keep people updated, I resolved my problem by doing a complete reinstall of my computer.
