Mitac MIO 8390 External LCD display backlight stops working

Hi, recently I've got myself a MIO 8390. At first, the backlight of the external LCD screen is working fine (blue color). After some software installations, I decided to hard reset the phone. After that, the backlight for the external display won't light up anymore.

Everything works fine except the external back light.... :D

Anyone has any advise?

Thanks in advance.

Found a new discovery today....I leave my phone on the desktop charger to charge until it's full charge, the LED is green. I left it on the cradle to charge. After quite some time, the external backlight comes on! and it works fine.

I remove it from the cradle and it still functions properly. However, when I plug it in again, the backlight goes off again.......very strange.....

Finally found out the reason......read somewhere from this forum that there's also an issue on this on the Mitac 8380. It's due to a break in connection between one of the solder blobs and the solder pad on the pront panel where it's suppose to drive the backlight.

What I did was to remove the front lid cover, use a fine tip soldering iron to melt the solder blob, while the solder is still in liquid form, use a sharp tip pincer and press down on the solder blob so that when the solder hardens, it's sure to connect with the underlying solder pad.

Presto, everything works fine after that.

Can't believe the same problem happens on 8390 as in 8380! Don't Mitac ever learn?
