Guest Simon Desser Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 I thought you might like to see my "In Car Sound System" :D I've got my E200, and a "Belkin Tune Cast II" FM Radio Transmitter, which lets you play music from your phone (or mp3 player etc.) on your car radio :D It's not legal in the UK, so obviously I won't actually be using it  . but I have to say I'm very impressed. The sound is very good, much better than I expected, and it's very easy to use. It automatically turns itself on when it receives an input signal from the playback device, and turns itself off when the music stops 8) Used with my E200, and my 1GB SD card, it really is a viable alternative to an mp3 player  Who needs an ipod :?: I'm happy with this 8)My in car system.jpg
Guest Dr_StrangeTrick Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 I got one of those as well and it is good, just one question. Do you gets quite a bit of background hissing on your setup :?:
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Yay, i've been thinking about buying a TuneCast II (for us only when i'm in the USA of course), and I think you've convinced me :D P
Guest Simon Desser Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Do you gets quite a bit of background hissing on your setup :?: I've not noticed any hissing yet, in fact it sounds better than one of those adapters that go into your tape deck :D I only got it today so havn't used it much yet, I'll let you know if I do get any hiss.
Guest Lingerhosen Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Did it come with the requisite adaptor/cable or have you purchased that elsewhere? If so, where and how much, as I haven't seen a stereo one on my travels!
Guest Dr_StrangeTrick Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Got mine from here I got the SP35A, just the right length.
Guest mavisdavis Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Simon whats the range of the belkin? I've had one for about 2yrs now its called the X-Pass and its range says on the box 10-15mtrs but in reallity it goes about 300ft its ace for £19.99
Guest nedge2k Posted July 15, 2004 Report Posted July 15, 2004 I've got a blaubunkt head in my beastie atm with a home made cable (i aint paying forty quid for 2 quids worth of stuff!) and a 3.5 to 2.5 adaptor. Works well but cant use it in the misus car....might have to get one of these, sounds cool (obviously for when im on holiday :P ). I was thinking about one of those universal MP3 CD changers with an fm modulator that hooks directly into the head unit's arial socket but they dont seem to be avialable in the UK anymore :D
Guest pd.ryder Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 What player app you using? Oh, and where did you get it? (The Belkin mainly, but the 2.5-3.5 adapter and the app would be good too!
Guest Helix Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 Or just by a head-unit :P Nice idea tho.
Guest Simon Desser Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 Just to answer a few questions I've recieved here and via PM :D I have now noticed a bit of hiss, but found it barely noticeable when the music is playing, especially if you turn the volume to max on the phone, and not too loud on the radio. However, it's not "as good" as I originally thought :D the volume is pretty quiet, and I might go back to using a cassette adapter :!: The app I was using is Pocket Music. The headphone adapter came in the box of my wife's HP Ipaq 1940, and I swiped it before she saw it :P Although it looks like Expanys will be getting them soon  http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=109747 I got the Belkin Tunecast on Ebay, I used a company called Bluetech, but there's loads of them available here:- http://search.ebay.co.uk/TuneCast_W0QQsofo...QQsosortorderZ1 (You might have to copy and paste the link into your browser)
Guest PaFF Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 Could this be used with a car holder to answer calls? PaFF
Guest sgannon Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 Simon - Are you still using the Orange UK ROM? If so, that's probably why it's too quiet.
Guest sgannon Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 Forget that, I see from other posts that you're not. Shame as it looks like a great little gadget. :P
Guest Dr_StrangeTrick Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 Bit of advice for anyone who has one of these. Just came to use mine (been in the glovebox all week) and the batteries have died. Not a problem got new ones but all the presets have gone :P Don't let your batteries run out.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 Yay! My grey TuneCast II arrived (also from BlueTech!) It's super cool, quality seems better at 88 rather than 107 (the two frequencies I tried), but for 19.99 I'm well happy! A car power lead was also included in the pack too, bonus! P
Guest ferret Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 I've been thinking of getting one of these things. Is it really that bad Simon, you're thinking of going back to the cassette adapter? Feedback from you Paul, on your shiny new gadget?? Cheers.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 I love it :P Definitely better sound than the cassette adaptor I had been using... P
Guest mcwarre Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 "]I love it :P P See, Now that is dedication from the O'Brienmaster General. He obviously went to the States, with his car, just to trial it out for us!
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 You see the lengths I go to for you guys? :P P
Guest Dr_StrangeTrick Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 Hey this is not funny now.
