Guest pisquee Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Wanting a phone for my sister. She is used to using a 3310 type simple nokia. thinking of getting her something a little bit more special - upto £100 for Orange (UK) PAYT. If sticking with nokia then i'm thinking a 3100, or if not nokia then a T610. Obviously she knows nokia well, after having a few 3000 series models, what is the T610 like in useabliity and friendlyness for someone who has never used more than a basic phone? any other thoughts or advice?
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 T610 has a REALLY quiet ringtone in my experience which is very very annoying... Not a BAD phone apart from that... The Moto V500 / V600 are nice for cheap phones? P
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Samsung e700 is cheapo now too, camera but no BT unlike the moto's. Pretty simple to use though (although not always particularly efficient in layout).
Guest mcwarre Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 P is right about the ring volume; this can be overcome by trying different ringtones. The T610 is a fairly intuitive phone to use and there are plenty of forums out there for help. The cheapest around (new) is here on eBay (Orange Dealer). E700s are a about £150+ new.
Guest mcwarre Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 Forgot to mention...... You can significantly increase the ring volume First go into 'settings' 'sounds and alerts' 'ring volume' and set that to max (make sure increasing ring is off) Next (and here is the beauty) from the home screen type '>* is move the joystick right once and
Guest gravity Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 Yeah but the T9 might not be upto the nokia standards, the java performance is mediocre at best and the screen isn't too good under bright sunlight. The camera is pretty crap compared to other phone cameras, but the viewfinder is awesome. Also the reception bars refresh very fast so it might look like your phone is tripping out or something, but thats normal. It has excellent bluetooth and great polyphonic tones. This is all compared to the phones around the same price range ofcourse. If you're lookin for a cheap phone, get the T610, if you're looking for a phone that improves on all the flaws of the T610, but don't mind paying the premium, get a K700i.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 I've never used a phone that is practically unviewable in bright sunlight :/
Guest chucky.egg Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 K700 is *really* nice. Camera is great especially. But it's kinda chunky (fat, but narrow - if you know what I mean) and no removable memory - maybe not a problem for a Nokia user though.
