Guest -=MrWizard=- Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Hey All, I am trying to get rid of my two way pager and move to SMS as my sole text based messaging system. On my pager, if I am in the shower and miss a page, a nice reminder beep chirps every minute, so when I pick up the pager, I think to look for new messages. I am trying to duplicate the same functionality with my MPx200, and am not having much luck. I thought I found the answer by creating a script associated with the SMS sound key. Sent myself a test message and didn't check it. Sure enough, every 60 seconds it plays the sound again, exactly like I hoped. The problem is that when I read the message, the script does not terminate. Every 60 seconds the sound plays again until I recycle the phone. Did I miss something in the registry to kill the loop when the message was read? Is there a better way get this functionality? Thanks in advance! -=MrWizard=-
Guest -=MrWizard=- Posted August 7, 2004 Report Posted August 7, 2004 Doh! Guess it can't be done this way. Thanks anyway!
Guest midnight Posted August 7, 2004 Report Posted August 7, 2004 i'm presuming you are using womething like apw60r, in which case, for sms, i aint sure whether you can turn it off. On thing you could try though is my led flasher, somewhere in this thread, that flashes the LED every second after you receive an SMS rather than every 3 seconds, press any key and it reverts back to the normal 3 second flash.
Guest stilger Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 This would be awesome. I am looking for something like this myself. Any chance I could test what you have now? Guest FrankyG Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 (edited) Just in case you haven't seen this page yet... http://airfagev.com/forum_view.asp?msg_id=28219 CAN use repeating tone for SMS which does end after n seconds. EDIT: my current script for SMS is v1t2pr which vibrates once, repeats the tone for 2 seconds (t2) and then quits. HTH Edited July 12, 2005 by FrankyG

EDIT: my current script for SMS is v1t2pr which vibrates once, repeats the tone for 2 seconds (t2) and then quits. HTH <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This seems to be a solution, but what I want is an infinite loop that stops when I read message/ check my missed calls. As I can see, this cannot be done just with a script. I tried to use MissCallAlarm app, but I cannot set it up to work properly on my qtek 8020. Is there some other way to solve this problem? Thank you!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 Notification sounds like SMS are created differently than ringtones so you have to listen to the whole sound rather than being able to stop it when you want to.
Guest w411y Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 So might there be a way of tweaking the reg to make the sms alert act like a ringtone?

Guest conan_troutman Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 I don't think it is possible, I've tried many times anc cannot do that. could you not point the sms towards the ring tones in sound categories instead.?
Guest gemidriver Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 could you not point the sms towards the ring tones in sound categories instead.? what about the program called Don't Forget. search for it in forums.. this app lets you choose a wav file and it will sound when you miss a call, email, sms, mms, etc..all options to change as well, the reminder time, notifications
