SPV Locked handset

Bought SPV on ebay. When handset turned on, comes up "Device is locked, Please enter password." Don't have the password. Before I send it back, can anyone tell me how to remove the password please?

The password is normally entered by the user, best thing to do (also because it is a secondhand) is a Hard Reset to clear

the phones memory and reset the passwords.
