Guest stonedbill Posted July 15, 2004 Report Posted July 15, 2004 hi first of all sorry if this is a cross thread of some sort but i haven't founds any thing with this problem yet. also i am relatively new to smart phones or even mobile phones in general so please say if i am being a little stupid in asking this. ok, when i am entering a new contact or editing one i find that when i come to any entry with a date the phone only gives me the option of entering todays date. it simply displays the current date with a tick box beside, i am not able to type in my own date :x . the only way i have gotten around this is by changing the date and time settings to that persons birthday, entering the new contact and then changing the dates back. is my phone supposed to do this? and can i change it? just to avoid more confusion than is necessary i am using the contacts list that comes with the phone not any installed files etc. i would be grateful if anyone could help please thanks
Guest stonedbill Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 or could at least someone say that they havent had this problem, and maby offer a bit of advice.
Guest robt Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 Yes, its true! I have never tried to enter a date before and I see the situation. Of course, you can enter a date via Outlook and then sync, but I realise this isnt always possible. Well spotted! Ps Im on 2003, anyone with 2002 have the same problem?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 It's a known Outlook bug, you need to enter the correct date on the PC instead of the phone.
Guest stonedbill Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 Ps Im on 2003, anyone with 2002 have the same problem?Yes i am on 2002 so its both OS's did no one think to fix it before putting out 2003? surly someone at moto or orange or wherever will have spotted it as well. It's a known Outlook bug, you need to enter the correct date on the PC instead of the phone. i cant do it this way, as its not actuly my pc im using so syncing with the outlook for contacts means i end up with my whole families contacts list (including companies which we reguly deal with like amazon) so it makes things really impractical for me. (or have i been a real tit, and you can actuly enter one or two contacts to the phoneas i choose).
Guest stonedbill Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 if you didnt guess there was supposed to be a second quote in that last post.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 I sorted out your second quote for you :P easy mistake you had quote instead of /quote
Guest stonedbill Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 thanks awarner but is there no fix for this problem then?
Guest orcinus Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 What the heck are you all talking about?!?! :? You tick the checkmark on, press right and type in a new date, then press right again, type in the month, press right one more time and type in the year. Orcinus
Guest stonedbill Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 OH MY GOD!!!!! How on earth did i miss that!!!! Thanks orcinus
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 They must have sorted it out then :P It used to happen on the early SPV and since then I always do my editing on Outlook.
