signal drops to zero

Dear all.

Anyone have problems with reception after using another antenna then the normal one. i have replaced the antenna for a shorter/smaller one...and now the reception falls to zero/none after few minutes. Anyone knows a solution i have done a hard reset, reset the RF calibration menu etc...nothing seems to help.
