Guest PaFF Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 Welcome to the site hitwave, if you want advice on smartphones you've come to the right place. You can send/receive/read emails as you would on a PC but there are limitations concerning veiwing attachments, as you do not have MSoffice applications, although there may be third party software to do this. I'm sure other members will correct me if I am wrong. What phone are you concidering? There are a couple of new models soon to be released. If you want further advice you could ask questions in the chatroom by going to msmobilenews.com and clicking on the smartphone chat link in the top right of the pane. See you there :P
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 Welcome to the site :P You can send and recieve email on the phone, but due to cost of GPRS most people only recieve the first psrt of the messages then download the full message and attacements etc when they get to a PC. I have never attempted to view an attachment to an email on the phone so I cannot comment on that part.
Guest hitwave Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 Thanks you awarner and PaFF! :P Anyway, i'm planning to buy the upcoming Sagem My-S7. Due to work, i am always on the move, hardly have time to step into the office. Therefore, i figured a smartphone will be a good thing for me. Because i can manage my appointment+phone+camera+email. Due to lack of understanding on the smartphone concept, so it rises a lot of doubts on whether it's a good value for money.
Guest Dr Who Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 Hi hitwave, sound like it is exactly what you need. Gives you all the appointment facilites of outlook and WHEN you do manage to be in the office just sync it up and off you go. Effectively like having a small screened PDA with a keyboard you wouldn't want to input too much data on. I don't use if for business, just as a hobby but I think as a s business user you would probably get a lot out of it. One word of advice though, like all things microsoft make sure you back up regularly!!!!
