MPX200 - Installing mms after hard reset

Recommended Posts

I recently performed a hard reset on my Orange UK MPx200. When I tried to reinstall the MMS client from the motorola cd, the phone displayed a message saying it was unable to complete the installation as the mms client 'lacked necessary permissions' or something similar. Is there any way around this problem? I didn't have any trouble installing the photo manager off the same cd. Thanks.

strange, try rebooting the phone. the app must be installed to phone not sd card, and try unlocking from the >ota< site if you still have problems.

I tried restarting it and its giving me the same message at the same point, (trying to install to phone memory). I decerted my phone from the website before I did the hard reset, and the website doesn't seem to want to send the decert message again, so I've sent an email to the developer@orange address to try to get them to unlock it. Thanks for the ideas though.

Thank goodness it's not just my phone that has done this. I think mine seemed to lose its MMS (and not let me re-install) after I installed Orneta Reader, or the other Orneta Notepad program. I've done a hard reset and it still wouldn't let me install. Sent a request to the Orange developer's e-mail to unlock my phone and so far it seems that nothing has been done.

I've spent HOURS now on the phone to Orange and every time they just say they'll get someone to ring back. The one time they DID ring, the phone was out of charge and therefore off. It seems they only try ring once and then close your case..! :!:

Has anyone found a way to correct this yet?? I'm supposed to have 150 free photo messages a month and so far I'm 2 months through and still no MMS capability. I'm far beyond the point of being annoyed with Orange!!

It's best to only contact the developer side about unlocking

as it's not really something custoner services can deal with.

Hi there.

I think I face the same problem with you guys.

So far any sollution.

When I installed the MMS from the CD, it prompt me a message said that the software is not compatible with this version and some of the neccesary file is not available.

I have try installing in onto my phone memory and also into my SD card and the message still the same.

Please give me some advice on this.

Thank you.

Not much help at the moment but one bit of advice,

The JMMS app is one of the only apps that must be installed on the phone and not the SD card, otherwise you will not be able to use your inbox and sendrecieve SMS as well as MMS.

If all the above members all have 2002 running on their phones

then there may be a problem with the unlocking process :?

As I suggested above the try the developers site and mention the exact problems.

Have any of you tried to install teh app before decerting as well as after?

First off, does anyone know where the Developer's side can be contacted from as the link I found on another message thread didn't seem to work?

The only reason I've been on the phone with Orange is because I don't have any other point of contact, but I haven't been trying to get their customer services to unlock it, I'm simply trying to get in touch with the section who CAN help, which is what makes it so frustrating (they just don't listen to me!). :?

My phone is running WM 2002 and I haven't been able to get a decert done on it so every attempt to install has failed... However, I can't remember if it was installed directly to the phone or to the memory card so this evening when I can have a quick hunt for the CD I will try it out and keep my fingers crossed! :|

(Thanks for the tip, awarner!)

Yes, that was the e-mail I sent to in order to request the decert, complete with my IPSM number (or whatever you call it - it's too early for my brain at the mo!), etc.

I tried to re-install last night after I found my disk but to no avail. However, I DID get a call from Orange and the person I spoke to has now apparently logged to call for the Data team to see if they can approve a replacement - the SMS updates they sent didn't do anything and I explained I've already been through this about 8 weeks ago and am now going in circles.

Of course, if it's a flaw with the phone software itself, I would've liked to have found out what made it disappear in the first place so that I can avoid it in future! My instincts point to the Orneta Reader, which is a shame as I enjoyed being able to read e-Books on my phone while it lasted.

Well the good news is that the day I least expected it, last weekend I got an e-mail from the Developers at Orange with my unlock program!! Lovely; the relief to FINALLY have gotten a proper response!!

I installed the program and unlocked my phone, and was then able to install the MMS program (along with just about anything else I fancy). 8) Perhaps it is a glitch that the phone somehow loses its initial security setting and then views any program as unsigned... I'm not a programmer so I wouldn't know the technical side of it but that sure seems to make sense to me!

The next day I got a phone call from Orange who said that they would replace my "faulty" handset but as I don't have insurance (an extra £5/month) I'd have to pay £30... the phone wouldn't have been "faulty" if they didn't have that stupid software lock on it!

All in all, I am liking my MPx200 more and more... :)
