Guest squall Posted July 17, 2004 Report Posted July 17, 2004 Mio 8390 smartphone comes to UK 17 July 2004 by axxxr Mitac is to bring its mini Mio 8390 smartphone to the UK. A clamshell phone not dissimilar in size to the Motorola Mpx200 the Mio 8390 runs Microsoft Smartphone 2003 operating system to deliver applications such as Outlook, Pocket Explorer and Windows Media player. The phone, which is fairly light at 125g, sports a 256k colour main screen with a second LCD display on its fascia. Other key facilities include 16 MB SDRAM, 32 MB ROM an MMC/SD card slot, Java, voice dialing and a Intel PXA262 200MHz CPU. Similar to the Motorola MPx200 it doesn’t feature Bluetooth; however unlike that handset it does at least boast a VGA camera. Motorola’s next Windows Mobile handset, the MPx220 which will debut in the autumn features both Bluetooth and a 1.3 mega pixel camera. There's no details yet on the Mio's price or which network is taking it. Source: www.esato.com
Guest Brody Posted July 17, 2004 Report Posted July 17, 2004 It'll be interesting to see if this actually makes it to the UK and which operator takes it on if it does...
Guest Pondrew Posted July 17, 2004 Report Posted July 17, 2004 I would have been very excited about this three months ago but now that the C500 is on the horizon, and with Motorola and Sagem also dangling the prospect of decent candybar Smartphone's before us, this is just too late. Shame, as I think there would have been alot of interest in this back when the choice was an E200 or MPX200.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted July 17, 2004 Report Posted July 17, 2004 I'll be at the UK launch on Wednesday, so stay tuned! P
