Guest nikjensie Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 Well, subject says it I guess... which one is the "best"? Would like opinions from those of you that tried both, or some insight from those of you that tried one of them... Nik [Edit] Good call... poll added. Although, finding out good and bad things about the backup proggs is still interesting, so don't be shy about posting your experiences....
Guest pd.ryder Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 Pop a POLL into your thread. Sprite gets my vote - I might even pay for it
Guest Disco Stu Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 I bought Sprite after others posted doubts about All-Locations software. Have been delighted with performance ever since.
Guest tcwatkins Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 Has anyone actually used either to restore after a crash?
Guest Disco Stu Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 Several times ; some times doing a hard reset first, other times not. Works fine both ways.
Guest ivor biggun Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 Haven't tried sprite, I use All-Back up and it works fine, I normally take the back up file off my phone as it takes up alot of memory then after a hard reset i install All-Backup and put the saved file back on my phone to install :P
Guest Disco Stu Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 Sprite will put the back-up on your storage card or on the PC itself. It will also save as many as you like. Very handy if one gets corrupted.
Guest The_Flames Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 could you give links to both of these apps plz, I've looked anc I cannot find :P
Guest Disco Stu Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 Sprite here : http://www.spritesoftware.com/home.html All-Locations version here : http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDet...h=All-Locations
Guest Slack Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 Sprite gets my vote. I was part of the BETA test team for it and I can tell you, after MANY restores it works as advertised. You can not go wrong with it. Check out my review of Sprite Backup at MPx200.org
Guest kurtfhouse Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 Probably a dumb question but is Sprite gonna be compatible with wm2k3 SE? Need to know before I buy as I will be upgrading as soon as is humanly possible and don't want to waste my hard earned cash :P
Guest Slack Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 It works with 2k3 on my MPx200. As for future editions, how is anyone to know? I can pretty much guarantee you that Sprite will update it if it doesn't. But until it actually exists they can not possibly know if it will work.
Guest nikjensie Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 Hmmmm... since I already had a Full version of ALLBackup I tried it out on my Qtek7070/SPV E100 before switching over to my E200... Simply made a backup to Storage Card, Hard Reset the phone, Started the phone up, installed ALLBackup and ran the Restore function. From what I gather, all profile names and settings are gone, all Regional Settings are gone as well as Sound Settings... Did I do something wrong, or does ALLBackup just not backup ALL?
Guest Disco Stu Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 Have you read this thread ? http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=1050...4346b1f5b752ab6 People were comparing the 2 alternatives
