Guest jonallwright Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 My SPV has come to the end of its contract so its upgrade time. Is it going to be worth waiting for the C500 or MPx220 to come out or should I just go for the MPx200 with the 2003 software update. My main gripe about the SPV was battery life, but from what i can see the MPx phones are very similar in that respect. The other thing is of course the initial cost, at the moment the mpx200 is free and are the replacements going to be worth the £100+ that they will be when first released.
Guest Dr Who Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 Upgrade costs will vary depending on what tariff you are on and what your recent spend levels have been like. If you are a heavy user you might get a decent price. Alternatively you could give up your old number and join as a new customer and get a free phone. I have no experience of the Motorolas or the C500 (natch) so can't give you any idea of comparisons but I can't abide clamshell phones so the choice is a bit easier pour moi. Judging by the specs alone (i.e. no stability info, etc, etc) the C500 is clearly the 'better' specced phone but the MPX200 has a large user base, plenty of support (on this forum) and since it does everything people want it to at the moment it should not need upgrading for some time. I think you might have to wait some time for the MPX220? Do you want to be a pioneer or a settler?
