Looks like a nice little handset, shame about the lack of Bluetooth though. Are you sure its only 32MB mem? Not 32/32?

Not a bad review of what seems to be a good Smartphone. I did get the impression the reviewer might be slightly biased (only mentioning the lack of bluetooth as a brief afterthought at the end of the review - Sagem connected perhaps?) although he was still even handed (mentioning the crackling from the loudspeaker).

That is a nice review, but i have just some questions that are not written in the review :

What kind of stéreo headset, what sound quality with Mp3 playing (is it a standard jack 3.5, or a 2.5 jack or another...?)

What is the batterie life ? normal use and with mp3 continuous playing ? video playing ?

Thx ! :P

ps : i will think that it will be really a good point to test theses kind of feature when you test a smartphone !

Believe me, Sagem isn't connected in any way.

My opinion is, that it could be a quite good Smartphone when released! I think the lack of bluetooth is acceptable. Smartphone owners who often use BT (connection with other devices like GPS-Receivers or so) probably choose another device (PocketPC Phones with integrated BT and bigger Screen), but I think users who won't need BT will be happy with the S7.

The other problem (as you can read) is the strange crackle when turning the volume down. It's very disturbing when trying to play a game or watching a recorded video at low volume. I hope they will fix this issue soon.

Look, I was happy with my QTEK 8080 too - but it crashed several times a day, did arbitary resets itself, has an instable software... but it has Bluetooth:)

But what shall I do with a Smartphone which has Bluetooth but resets twice in a telephone call? The S7 is stable since the 1 week I got it, and that's fine.

Perhaps some other smaller bugs will appear soon, but as far as now I will prefer the S7 than a QTEK 8080.

2,5mm Jack, Soundquality very good... :P

Battery Life approx. 2 days when using it very often. But it's a beta-Software installed and perhaps the Battery will be renewed too.

MP3/Video Playing as in 'normal' WindowsMobile2003 devices.

Continously or only 1 time.

Kind regards,

Andreas

Cheers for the response Andreas.

It'll depend how people use their Smartphone, as in all things.

As requested @ mobilejoe.de - here too a photo made with the S7 Cam:

Not bad quality. Not bad at all!

I will say it seems a great little Smartphone. Just a shame HTC had to steal a march on it by revealing the Typhoon (C/E500) before Sagem had a chance to reap the benefits of the smaller form factor.

Thx for your aswer astuermer.

But you mean that battery life is about 2 days in regular situation when using it often... well this is not really accurate.

I mean that a good test should be like this one :

- Full Charge of the device.

- 256 Sd card on the device full with mp3 encoded at min 128 kpbs.

- Run Wmp/or betaplayer screen turned off if possible (i think it s possible.. ?) with these mp3 on continuous play.

- And see when the device stop playing.

This test should be done among other (like divx playing to see multimedia perf, fps test is easy to do with betaplayer) with every new smartphone, and it's accurate.

Nice pictures, better than C500 (from what i have seen)

Yup, the C500 is smaller, the My S-7 is between the E200 and the C500.

But i have notice some advantage to the My S-7 :

+ SD card format (cheaper than mini-sd, and widely available)

+ Processor PXA 262 @ 200 Mhz (hum well but i think the Ti Omap 730 200mhz should compete with, and maybe faster ...?)

+ and i suppose longer battery life ...???

Cons :

- Bigger than C500

- Not Blutooth

wow, those pics are pretty good quality!

Better than the ones from the MPx220 that we have seen so far.

marko31, from what i've heard, c500 will beat my s7 on pretty much every spec. (except the SD card, which i agree is currently better regular size rather than mini SD, but, the gap in price is closing, and closing fast). The c500 processor is faster, the battery life is quite a bit longer (of course, Sagem have said that they hope to increase battery life on final units), its smaller, lighter, dunno about camera, but i have heard good things. I think the two phones will be very similar, and due to that fact, i cant see why Orange would wanna carry it in the UK, but lets hope they do :P

It looks to me like its going to be the choice for gamers, that 8way joystick might be one of the killer points for this phone.

the lack of bluetooth and the small amout of ram put me off, but the price and it still using 'classic' sd cards counter balances it and not forgetting sagems name for gaming phones should help sales. its aimed at the 'yoof' market and we all know the exec's think kids don't need bluetooth

looking at the reviews/previews this one is still in the running as a poisble upgrade but for some reason im thinking C500 or posibly the 220 will be the popular choices.

No Bluetooth will hinder future gaming though...

i was thinking exactly the same thing Brody, the key aspect of all our upcoming games will most likely be multiplayer bluetooth, so while its great theyve added a 'proper' joystick, and we will include proper single player games, you cant help feel that multiplayer is much more fun. Ah well, i presume theyve done it to keep costs down, still have to go some to beat the c500 (now why couldnt the c500 have a proper joystick????)
