Guest Paul [MVP] Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 Novosec Mobile and MoDaCo are pleased to announce that, after a succesful collaboration, an upgraded version of SmartphoneTurbo is now available that adds support for the Voq Amazing Phone featuring the Intel PXA262 processor. I've used this update on my Voq all day yesterday and today, and so far, looking good! :P Click here for download, and details of Novosec's other products. P
Guest Gears Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 Now all everyone needs is a Voq and......
Guest barkythedog Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 so no one in the whole of the planet, and thats quite a few people can come up with a turbo for the e200, strange
Guest stohn Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 Hello, we would love to come up with the turbo even for E200 and MPx200... but... Texas Instruments (manufacturer of the TI-OMAP processor) is not giving any information to developers unless you buy at least 10000 processors. !This is the only reason why there is no turbo for E200 and MPx200. The processor should be able to run up to 200 MHz. Maik
Guest midnight Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 not according to the Lightspeed makers (ok, this is for palm, but they've still overclocked OMAP).... see here With OMAP processors that normally run between 126 MHz or 144 Mhz, the CPU speed can be set as low as 3 Mhz to extend the battery life and as high as 192 Mhz to improve performance and user experience. Motorola Chips can range from 50 Mhz to 230 Mhz.
Guest barkythedog Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 sorry midnight whats overlocking im an old dog that restrains mad patients for a living
Guest Disco Stu Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 While Mid's away...I believe over-clocking is a way of convincing the processor to run at a higher speed than originally intended. Sort of jet-powered bicycle thing or summat :?
Guest barkythedog Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 can that be done on the e200 mr disco
Guest Disco Stu Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 Sorry Dog, I have no idea. Seems they've started a debate above though, so watch this space
Guest ste_lin Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 I don't think that the E200 or C500 would be able to be overclocked. Looking at the TI website the max speeds for the OMAP 710 (in E200) is 132MHz and for the OMAP 730 (C500) is 200MHz. So it already looks like they are running at their max speeds. Also if it was possible, given the SPV range battery performance, would you really want to reduce the battery life between charges :?:
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 Overclocking is setting the processor at a faster rate of clocks than the stock speed. More clocks per second means more operations per second which means it can do more stuff at once :P The arguement for not overclocking the SPV processors is mostly battery life, and apparently lack of chip spec availability. So i wouldn't get your hopes up...
