Guest cygwinxp Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 Here is an updated list of WM2003 ROM Pros and Cons (Please help to add more): Confirmed issues 1. MMS cannot work 2. sim manager doesnt recognize select sim cards, a lot of tmobile ones included (There is a workaround) 3. T9 repeats the last typed word in a new line (dont know if this is a bug or a configuration).. mad annoooying 4. when using gprs or wap, the screen randomly blacks out and idles.. even when i am in the process of using the phone... with the idle set to 10 minutes 5. Less RAM and Flash storage available Not confirmed issues 1. Battery life (I don't have this issue. It is similar to WM2002 for me) 2. Task manager sometimes hangs handset when closing programs, requiring a reboot. 3. Phone hangs for an instant in some apps (Links golf for instance) when signal strength is low, the hang often happens at the same time as the low signal 'click' 4. SIM Card may not work for some region (I don't have this problem at all.) Things you will gain: 1. Able to run .NET apps 2. Better media player 3. Clear Type 4. Chinese support with plugin
Guest AvWijk Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 1. I still have the volume bug :P Ringtones played at volume 4 is too soft, volume 5 (loud) is to loud. 2. I have the idea the volume level (for conversations and ringtones) was much better in the 2002 rom. 3. No suitable MMS software. 4. No dutch language support, HEY don't forget us!! 5. No homescreen layout profiles Simple and Basic. @ Cygxp: The Battery life is excellent here, got 4-5 days battery time with normal use. Also no problems with task manager, some times I get an error message 'error closing program FFF90834' or something, but the program will be forced to close.
Guest ashishku Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 on my set with WM2003, volume is too low, almost inaudible, impossible to talk outdoors.
Guest flashflash Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 very small problem, but e-mail alert doesn't work. sms is ok but not e-mail Also, menus slower, less ram available
Guest Exodia Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 1. I still have the volume bug :P Ringtones played at volume 4 is too soft, volume 5 (loud) is to loud. I just adjusted the volume (lowered it) on my ringtone when i created it then set the ringtone volume in the phone to '5'. It now plays at a decent level.

Guest bradmatejo Posted July 25, 2004 Report Posted July 25, 2004 Let's include things that might be a pro or might be a con, depending on personal preference. 1. ClearType (some like it, some don't) er, that's all I got for now... Anyone else?
