Guest gitaarwerk Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 I am wondering,... is there an application for the smartphone (2002) such as an answering machine??? it will save some bucks on voicemail services
Guest SMYKUL Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 This should really be in the "Help And Advice" section if an admin comes by... Anyway, i dont think there are any apps which match this description atm. basically because it would really eat up storage if u wanted to hear what the other person was saying :P . You could try approaching some developers on this site about it but it would really be more of a messy fix than an app so they probably wouldn't consider it. sorry mate :D i think you will just have to do without for now.
Guest gitaarwerk Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 Thanks for the replies :P and sorry if this is in the wrong section (still gotta know this forum..imnot much around here) But.. when you do a voice memo.. there can be pretty much conversations recorded on.. furthermore, you can put it on an sd card.. doesn't look like a real problem to me.. now..the only thing that may be a problem is that the spv might not be able to record incoming calls, or play mp3/wav to a caller. novaco smartfilter, <-- this one i cannot find.. i tried google and this forum, but just gave nothing
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 Its Novosec Smartfilter. :P Try handango or smartphone.net Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest gitaarwerk Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 hmm.. this is a start.. now all we need is to forward the call to a recorder or seomthing.. it is simple to fforward it to your home telephone, but.. maybe..if you dont have that.. and the point is by not using voicemail.. how can that be achieved?
Guest gnagis Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 it would be great with that stuff on the phone i think it should go Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest xandercom Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 Hey guys I used to have a samsung phone about 3 years ago... It was the samsung SGH-N400. When you open the flip on the front the antenna automaticly extended via a little motor, and then back down again when you close the filp!! Hours of fun! BUT ANYWAY.. this phone had an answerphone built in and was excellent. you could listen to messages as they are being left, store them for later etc. you could either add your own greeting or have a nice american lady answer for you! Like I said guys this was 3 years ago and back then you were lucky to have wap on your phone! So surely it can be done on modern smartphones. You could have different greetings for different contacts, and a specific greeting to warn people who withold their number that they must redial without doing so. The possibilities are endless!! COME ON! SOMEONE OUT THERE MUST HAVE THE SKILLS! :twisted:SGHN400.JPG
Guest reubmeisterishly Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 So, where are things with an answer phone service for the SPV C500... well that's what I'm interested in anyway! You know... save money on voicemail. Is anyone doing something?
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 There's a thread about recording voice calls on the newer Smartphones Basically on the C500 (well mine anyway) it wasn't possible to record the call because of something Orange/MS have put in place. There are reports that there was an app (forget what it was called) that worked for some people, but I tried all sorts on my C500 an nothing seemed to work. As for specific Voicemail replacements - nope, nothing that I've ever come across. Symbian Series 60 can do it, if it's that important to you.
Guest yaya Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 Hi, Found this: Answering Machine Application Can someone tell me who is the company behaind this Answering Machine application? Yaya
Guest chucky.egg Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 That does look quite good, but it's a PPC device not a smartphone so even if you can work out who made it you might not be able to get a Smartphone version
Guest TonD Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 This must definately be possible. I had a similar program on my series 60 Nokia 7650 way back in the days ;)
Guest chucky.egg Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 OMG! Lets not get sucked back into one of these topics. This thread started over a year ago and in that time no Answer Phone software has come out. That is not an indication that "this must be possible "
Guest longj49 Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 i know of an app called SMS Assistant (freeware for Smartphone 2003) that can automatically send predefined SMS messages to callers if youi're unable to answer your phone. hopefully this means that an app for an answering machine might not be too far off. but what do i know, am just a noob here. :?:
Guest chucky.egg Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 They are very different things SMS Assistant will monitor the phone line and generate an SMS when it handles calls. An answering machine would need to be able to "play" an audio file (your greeting or OGM) and record the callers speech. As I understand it the issue is that you can not record the audio of a phone call "internally" - the only solution that anyone has come up with is to use Video Recorder to record the speakerphone.

Not that it's a solution here, but this program records conversations without problem.
Guest chucky.egg Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 That wasn't my experience with that app
Guest roma0803 Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 That wasn't my experience with that app <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hmm... I get great recordings with it. Superb sound quality. We might suggest them to add answering machine functionality to it ;)
