Bluetooth Heasets on i-mate Smartphone2

I have been trying to find a Bluetooth Headset that will work properly with my i-mate Smartphone2.

Prior to the recent update my main issue was bonding devices successfully. They seem to have fixed that with the update. Now i cant seem to get futher than 1-2 feet in distance between i-mate and headset without severe static or muffled sound. I have now tried around 6 headsets including Plantronics M3000, Sony-Ericssom HBH-200, Logitech Boom and a few others but each Headset has the same problem, some with better results than others.

Last week i sent an email to i-mate complaining about this issue. Their reply was:

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your email.

We have reported this issue to head office. Once the correction is finished, you should be able to find it on www.clubimate.com

So basically it looks like this can be fixed.

Does anyone use Bluetooth Headsets with other HTC Voyager devices?

I'm wondering if as i-mate say they can fix it if other brands have any similar issues?
