Guest Tenchi Okhi Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 Hi all. Got a slight problem with the midi ringtones on the mpx200. I was just wanting to know a couple of things. First off, can it accept standard GM midis? if not, what do I need to do to make them compatible, as I tried a little test last night. I transferred the midi to my SD card, and it showed up in the sounds section of settings, but when you try to play it, it just gives the standard alarm beep. So I copied one of the stock midis to my desktop, ran it through winamp and it played fine, so I'm slightly confused. Secondly, is there also an mpx200/motorola specific polyphonic ringtone format, like iMelody for example? If anyone can help me out on this, It'd be greatly appreciated, as I've got a massive stock of midis begging to be used as ringtones. Cheers. Tenchi
Guest martin Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 I think this will depend on whether you use SP2002 or SP2003. AFAIK SP2002 only allows midi0
Guest Tenchi Okhi Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 It's got SP2002 for now, I've just got the phone so I'm not ready to flash it to 2003 just yet.
Guest martin Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 OK but that means it's midi0 only I'm afraid. You can still use PCM WAV files as ringtones which are more fun
Guest Tenchi Okhi Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 Already am using :P Found myself a midi to midi0 converter, and the quality's not too shabby, quite impressed with the conversion on my FF7 mids.
Guest Disco Stu Posted July 24, 2004 Report Posted July 24, 2004 The 2003 OS will allow you to use polyphonic MIDI formats, but they don't sound particularly great unless they are properly made :P
