Guest comdw Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 I had a search around these forums to see if smartphone can do calling card prefix dialling for stored contact numbers and found that plenty were looking for the feature but you can't do it as standard and there wasn't any software that would do it. Well, I had did a wider search and found this: CCDialer To me its not the best solution as you need all your numbers in a text file. Something that integrates well with existing phone functionality would be better. Examples for other phones: 1. Symbol you can add to a number stored in your contacts that will prompt you for digits (which you can lookup from contacts) automatically when you dial. Like '+' for Nokias, 'n' for some other phones. 2. Send DTMF function during calls (lets you lookup and send digits from your contacts lists). All Nokias have this. 3. Press and hold the call button when making a call to cause the calling card number to be prefixed. I can only assume that doing this on smartphone with software is tricky. Does anyone know of any other calling card software or hacks for smartphone? If not, something along the lines of the above methods would be very well received in this community from what I've read in these forums on the subject.
Guest UnLoCkSmItH Posted July 25, 2004 Report Posted July 25, 2004 If you mean you need software that will dial the calling card company then enter your PIN etc then just store your number with p then card PIN. e.g. 08006569090p987654321 and then u can enter the number you wish to dial
Guest mcwarre Posted July 25, 2004 Report Posted July 25, 2004 As per UnLoCkSmItH plus add an additional number to a contact (for example make the calling card number their 2nd mobile) then use 08006569090p987654321p0797XXXXXXX.
Guest comdw Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 This is not a useful solution when you need the option to use the calling card(s) with all of your contacts, and the calling card access number changes regularly. Also, sometimes you don't want to use the calling card at all (off peak free minutes). The time taken to edit all your contacts in outlook would be exessive to say the least - if anyone knows any software that would make this job easier (adding prefix numbers to contacts) I'd be interested to give it a go.
Guest fozzie Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 Just came across this thread. From the author's website under "What is missing": "Integration with Pocket Contacts (v2.0 will address this limitation)" If this can be done then I can see this app being in great demand... Well I'd really like it anyway ^_^
