Guest srg59 Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ssPageName=WDVW I'm not sure who's more of an idiot, the seller, or whom ever bids.
Guest mcwarre Posted July 24, 2004 Report Posted July 24, 2004 A newbie with 0 feedback and it is a link not the phone. What a muppet...............
Guest nato Posted July 24, 2004 Report Posted July 24, 2004 what a bargain! and so far highest bid is 20 quid!. hes having a laugh surely? Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Dr Who Posted July 24, 2004 Report Posted July 24, 2004 Bids are now up to £122. If anyone has an ebay account could they leave feedback saying, "be careful, this is a stitch-up?". Or can you report this to ebay?
Guest agent.m Posted July 24, 2004 Report Posted July 24, 2004 think the bidders are taking the piss to be honest! :P Anyway what do you guys think of this???????????? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...6309908464&rd=1 are they on dangerous grounds??????????
Guest Simon Desser Posted July 24, 2004 Report Posted July 24, 2004 You never know, it could be Paul :?: In which case he's entitled to sell Plus membership. Their based in Norwich, and spelt MoDaCo correctly, with a capital M D and C
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted July 24, 2004 Report Posted July 24, 2004 Nothing dodgy about that auction for the MPX, "you're bidding for a link to get it for 20 quid", probably a phone site doing pre orders at horribly discounted rates ;p
Guest yoggie_uk Posted July 25, 2004 Report Posted July 25, 2004 If I had half a brain I would put the link on ebay myself... Damn I am too honest anyways you can see how it works.. I still cant believe that people make money off selling links I dunno whos worse the peoples selling the stuff or those daft enuff not to use google and end up buying the link.
Guest afroahmed Posted July 25, 2004 Report Posted July 25, 2004 omg ive come across this "link for £20 thing" before, trust me its a bloody con. What they do is sent you a link to a website which is a scam. On the website u buy something from them which is £20, usually a ringtones and logos cd. After purchasing this, u pick a fone you would like to be put into a list for. Your name then goes to the bottom of the list. Whoevers name is at the top of the list will be recieving there fone first. BUT to get to the top of the list, u must first get 10-20 of ur m8s to do exactly the same thing, each buying a £20 item and refering ur name when they buy. So, unless u have 20 odd m8s who r complete idiots and will gladly pay £20 for a ringtone cd, then avoid this. Also, if the link is selling for so much, i know a few of these websites, but im not gonna give away there urls cos they r a con.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted July 25, 2004 Report Posted July 25, 2004 The new age pyramid scheme, it pop's up every now and then, and the top 5 or 10 are always the people who run the site. If you do the maths you soon need several 10's of thousands of people to get your item :P
Guest afroahmed Posted July 25, 2004 Report Posted July 25, 2004 yep. but the stupid thing is, anyone can get a hold of one of these links then sell em on ebay to unfortunate people for as muc has £200, and ebay make no attemp to stop them
Guest coolway Posted July 25, 2004 Report Posted July 25, 2004 its a good idea ive seen alot more auctions on there like this
Guest afroahmed Posted July 25, 2004 Report Posted July 25, 2004 yep. do a smiple search on ebay for 'free phone' and youll find em, there are hundreads of auctions. Dunno y on earth ebay dont remove em though
Guest mcwarre Posted July 25, 2004 Report Posted July 25, 2004 Because, technically, they are doing nothing illegal. Plus eBay gets insertion fees and Final Valuation Fees for them (i.e. PROFIT)
Guest kalinte Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 the guy selling the link must have been duped in buying it in the first palce and now looking for others (who share his IQ) to get his money's worth. cruel world.
Guest Matt Kirby Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 "A fool and his money were lucky to get together in the first place". It amazes me how these scams resurface every now and then and people still fall for them! There was a guy here who posted in Off Topic about a matrix scheme for a gaming PC - asking the good people of MoDaCo to join so he would get his computer - I think he found out quite quickly that it was a scam.
Guest afroahmed Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 yeh they are generally called matrix fones or sumthing like that. feel sorry for the guy though!
