Guest FredrikRN Posted July 25, 2004 Report Posted July 25, 2004 Hi! I had my phone now for a couple of days and all seems to work fine except one thing. The phone seems to hang from time to time. I think I have drilled this down to the keylock. Some background: I noticed that my phone was not responsive after some time with keylock on. Basically nothing happens. The LED is blinking green indikating it's still connected to the net. Hoewever, NOTHING happens on the screen. No light, action - nothing. It doesn't matter which button I press or hold in for a while. I even tried the to hold the power-button - no success. Calls to the phone doesn't get through when it's in this stage. Ok, battery off. wait 5-10 sec and then back on again. Restart the phone and all is crisp clear as usual. Browed the MoDaCo forum for some tips and the best I could find was a hard reset. So I made a hard reset and also tried the tip of having the battery att 100% for about 60 min to gain some battery performance. I thought I should test it when I'm anyway going to hard reset the device. Hard reset was successfull and it seems to work a little bit better. BUT.... Last night before I went to bed I put the phone on keylock (to test it). This morning it was almost the same again. The LED was blinking, I had baklight but the keys where totally ignored by the phone. Basically the same as above but with light on. I couldn't see the 'Unlock' down to the left, it just said 'Start'. So again - battery off and back on again. Now, when I detached the battery I could se the screen fade away and like every second line disapear slowly...I think you pro's know what I mean. WHen the screen was black I attached the battery and then turned on the phone. Guess what!? After entering the PIN-code I saw the 'Unlock' down to the left instead of 'Start'. Now isn't that strange? It seems like the phone remeber it even after I reboot it. If I leave the phone WITHOUT keylock it seems like this never happens. Device data: Qtek 8080 Smartphone 2003 ver 4.20.0 (build 13349) Radio ver 1.12.01 ROM version: 1.19.14.1 (factory installed, no updates) (Qtek) Manufacturer: 1.11.14.18 It's purchased in Sweden. Besides all this, it seems to work fine and I really like it. Please help! I'm happy to do several hard reset, no probs, but I really would like to get some ideas. Thanks in advance, Fred PS I have the following apps installed: ALL-Calculator LITE ALL-explorer LITE ALL-GPRS Counter (really nice app btw) PHM Registry Editor (ver 0.70)
Guest RaxDraco Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 Hi, I seem to get the same problem with my E200 and I have changed ROMs, but still got the problem. The worst is when it doesn't allow me to answer an incoming call. I am convinced it has something to do with the hardware of the phone but can't be sure. I have another E200 that works just fine its only this one that has this problem.
Guest FredrikRN Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 Hm, strange... Just spoke to a Swedish service provider today and explained the problem. He thought it might be some kind of hardware problem. I'll do some more testing and see if it's really an issue. Did another hard reset last night so I'll check if I still have it. However, this tip reg battery and hard reset seems to work, or it's only me thinking that it's working... From fully charged @ 23:45 last night I've done the following: Jawbreaker for about 30 min 9 hrs pure standby with alarm (radio on, no BT) 3 hrs with no screen-saver, backlight on, BT on and SD-card in. Now at 12:30 I have about 50% left. Don't know if that's normal, but it feels absolutely better than before. Please, does anybody else experienced the same problem and got it solved??? Thanks in advance, Fred
Guest ferret Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 My E200 does this all the time, I just remove the SD card, stick it back in and the phone springs back to life.
Guest FredrikRN Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 Now that's interesting... Is there a bug with certian cards or is it a bug that basically is "connected" with the SD card??? Next time it hangs, I'll try that — if it hangs again ;-)
Guest FredrikRN Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 This thread is quit interesting... Can anybody somehow confirm, or is it just another rumour??? Thanks, Fred
Guest RaxDraco Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 I don't think it has anything to do with the card for me I have tried pulling out the card and it still hung and never recovered. And then finally today I manged to replace the IMate ROm with the latest Orange ROM and the phone has been fine whole day! Touch wood! I am also wondering is the SIM card does something to it.
Guest beersoft Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 have you tried this? http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=109562 it stops my e200 crashing randomly with the sd card in later Owen
