Guest RaxDraco Posted July 25, 2004 Report Posted July 25, 2004 Hi there, I recently bought an E200 Orange Smart Phone off ebay and SIM unlocked it to work with Vodafone in the UK. The phone has been just great and has the boot loader 1.7.02 (on Canary screen) and the latest Orange ROM (came already installed) 2.6.1.3 manufacturer 1.11.1.4. Now my girlfriend not wanting to be left out also wanted one. So I bought her one off eBay and thats where the problems started. The phone had the same Orange ROM as the one above but the bootloader was 1.6.02 (can't remember if it was .02) and the phone would hang randomly when using apps. So thinking it was a problem with her 3 SIM card in the phone I gave her my phone and used hers. The problems still took place so I decided to after looking on Modaco to upgrade to the latest I-Mate ROM 1.10.15.2 as people spoke so highly of it. The updgrade worked first time but the problems still continued apps would freeze or just close down and return me to the homescreen and sometimes when someone called me and the phone was locked it would hang on the call screen not allowing me to accept calls. Also when I synced automatically with my Exchange Server over GPRS the phone would leave GPRS open (exspensive!). I am finding this very annoying the amounts of times this phone crashes or the keyboard just becomes unresponsive, the other SPV is just fine its only this one. I have tried going back to the Orange ROM but get problems when trying to reflash with the Orange ROM again. Even using Flourins fixed.exe program will not let me flash the Orange ROM back on and I have tried the Greek program with the Orange .NBF file but with no luck it always gives a 117 error or 113. I am a bit stuck on what to do now and here are some questions. :?: -Would the Xbar 2.0 program help? Etc clean out memeory all the time? -Is this a problem with the SPV keyboard or is there a keyboard upgrade? -How can I go back to the Orange ROM? -Is the phone hardware possibly faulty? -Is there an upgrade or update I am possibly missing? Any help woul dbe greatly appreciated. :P
Guest Disco Stu Posted July 25, 2004 Report Posted July 25, 2004 Most of your questions are too technical for me, but to get you started, have you done a hard reset since you got the phone ? This will not affect the SIM-unlock but will clean up the phone in every other sense. You can application unlock it again afterwards. Reason I ask this, is that the phone shutting itself down may indicate that the phone memory is overloaded. You should install most apps & games onto the storage card to avoid this. Also, in Settings, Homescreen, set Time Out to "Never" as this is the main reason for being sent back to the homescreen when in other applications. You're not trying to install Pocket PC software, because that won't work on your Smartphone ? Xbar is a fine tool but I don't think it will help with your problems. You will want it on your phone though.
Guest RaxDraco Posted July 25, 2004 Report Posted July 25, 2004 Hi there, Yeah I have done the hard reset. Did it again now just to make sure so will see if it makes a difference again.
