I have tried to do the rom update for my E200 from the orange website, it get to the progress screen and crashes, its not out active synch from my pc so i've reinstalled that. Now when i boot the phone i get press any key to enter bootloader followed by a multi colored screen. The update has removed my old rom and left me with nothing, i've tried four times now to get the update onto the phone and it still hangs at the point where its about to load the new rom onto the phone. I would be grateful for any help but i have a feeling it may have to be rturned am i right?? Thanks in advance for your help

Hi there,

You shouldn't need Active Sync running for the install to work it talks to the phone directly when its in the cradle.

Firstly did you orginally have an older version of the Orange ROM on your phone or do you have a Qtek or Imate ROM?

If you have an older Orange ROM installed you should be able to continue with the upgrade path again. Did you also get the latest ROM off the Orange website?

Also did you check that you didn't orginally have the latest ROM there was a problem a while ago where Orange released some phones with the latest ROM and had the older ROM on their website. It caused all kinds of problems when people tried to update their ROMs. If this is the case you will need Flourins fixed.exe program.

Flourins Program click here

Before you try the bit below have you waited long enough? Sometimes the update program take a while to work and you just have to be patient.

This may help you but try at your own risk, at the bootloader screen where it says press any key to continue hold down the action key (The joystick). You should get a screen with some options, select option 8. This should empty the phone memory. Now put the phone back into Canary mode (the multi coloured screen) after its finished reloading, done by holding down the record button while turning it on.

Once done place the phone in the cradle and try again with the update program.
