Guest bauer Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 Hi im a new smartphone owner, got my spv e200 this morning and ive already got myself stuck on something. Ive installed activesync, but when ever i connect my phone via USB cradle i get the error message "Syncronisation cannot be completed because your personal information manager(PIM) program cannot be accessed. Ensure your PIM program is running, and try to syncronise again. If your PIM program is running, restart your desktop computer." Once i click on ok it says im connected but when i go to explore phone i am given an empty window. Any help would be greatly appreciated on how to resolve this issue. P.S. and kudos on the site, very helpful
Guest PaFF Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 Welcome to the site bauer, your in the right place. i'll see if anyone can help in smartphone chat.
Guest beersoft Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 Hi i think what activesync is moaning about is the lack of outlook i recomend uninstalling activesync and then install outlook from the cd, then download the latest version of active sync from www.microsoft.com/smartphone and install that later Owen
Guest bauer Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 Thank you paff for taking the time to figure out a solution. And in reply to what beersoft wrote, i have outlook express installed, do i need to install outloook 2002? Thanks again for replying
Guest beersoft Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 yep, you need outlook installed for it to sync contacts and emails (if you want it to) else all you need to do is untick the contacts, calender email and whatnot from activesync and then it will sync with no errors later Owen
Guest bauer Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 Thanks beersoft that has resolved that issue but another problem has risen. When i click on the explore button to view files on the phone i get the error message ; "Critical sommunications services have failed to start. Try resetting the mobile device, and then connect again" Ive tried resetting the phone the and the computer but i still get this message. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Guest bauer Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 I've fixed the problem. I had to turn off my firewall(Zonealarm), it was stopping the connection between the devices. Thanks again for everyone who helped
