Guest thrillz21 Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 Please help... when I restart my phone my homescreen files which include an ".xml" file and a picture file get deleted from my windows folder. Because this always happens I already have them in a seperate folder and everytime I restart my phone I have to copy those files into my windows folder and then everything works okay. But it is very annoying to do this everytime I restart my phone. Is there a solution to this problem?
Guest Disco Stu Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 You're putting them in the wrong place mate. The Windows directory gets rewritten when you reboot the phone. Put them in IPSM (or Storage) Application Data Home. Don't make the same mistake with ringtones (many do) ; they go in Application Data Sounds if you want to keep them.
Guest thrillz21 Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 yes i know that and that is where I have them already (in the IPSM folder) however whenever I restart my phone my homescreen does not come up... rather a screen that says home layout could not be found... I have to copy my two files from IPSM/APPLICATION DATA/HOME to my windows folder... that is really annoying... I want to be able to restart my phone and have my home screen and my picture come up.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 Sounds like you did not install the homescreen. You should not place anything in the main Windows folder they are already in the correct folder.
Guest thrillz21 Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 i do not know what you mean by installing the homescreen... I created my homescreen and names it abc.home.xml. I copied the xml file as well as the picture file to my ipsm/application data/home folder. But if I do not copy those same files to my Windows folder, they will not show up in my homescreen settings screen.
Guest Skunkchild Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 Upload the xml and we can see what occurs on our phones
