The 'all-of-a-sudden-hang'-phenomenon on Voyager

All,

I'm quit new in this forum but I've spent a lot of time browsing to find an answer for this thread. I turns out that (according to 'stohn') that this is caused by the phone itself. Read this thread for details.

Basically the feedback from the GSM-receiver mess up the phone and it hangs. Now, I've tried the 'tip' about the aluminium foil and it actually locks up the phone and a battery remove is the only option.

I would like to start the discussion on this particular issue since I doubt that this is not known to some people. I also tried a couple of other phones (Nokia, SE etc) and they all work fine (except you can't call the phone because the foil blocks the signal).

I'm really pissed and this is the first time this ever happens to any of my previous phones.

I can't use it my car properly;dropping calls every now and then. I can't use it in the cradle at my desk since I have limited space left (I have three TFT's, one 24" and two 21").

Suggestions, ideas, work-arounds etc are more than welcome, or just share you opinion.

PS I'll start a discussion with Brightpoint Sweden reg this particular issue and see what the outcome is. I'll update my responses in this thread.

not too sure if this is related, but mine does turn itself off COMPLETELY, when it's near an electrical equipment. Everytime I have it next to my laptop and I'm speaking on the phone, it turns off completely.

I got so pissed on this bug so I changed my device to a Qtek 2020. It's night and day! The Qtek 2020 (HTC Himalaya, XDAII etc...) runs like a charm. No hanging, get the signal back if in "no-signal" area etc. Just a wonderfull tool.

that bug also happens in certain areas of my city. must have something to do with some electric waves or something. what i noticed is that happens less when bt is on. strange phone. :P :D

Finally! :D

I was begining to think i caused this problem to appear after i changed the cover! Looks like you lot have the same issues as me: random hangs/power downs....its really annoying, especially if the screen switches off because the LED keeps flashing so you're never sure if its alive or not!!! However, as i said, i first noticed this after chaging covers. At one point it wouldnt stay live for more than an hour! Hard resets made the problem go away for a time...but it would come back. The good news is tho, after flashing back and forth to many different roms, multiple hard resets etc. the problem seems to have gone :lol: So my advise would be, hard reset, reflash etc til the problem goes...worked for me :P

(Im now on the I-Mate Rom, with a UK Voyager)
