Guest dodding nonkey Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 We MUST give this widest publicity - we must make it our objective for this site to get more hits than the official version. Hilarious!
Guest Disco Stu Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 Having just got back from seeing Fahrenheit 9/11, I'd have to agree with you. Do what I've done and post it up on any other forums you visit. Send an email to all your friends.
Guest Rob.P Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 lol, nice to know everybody is doing the same, must have sent at least 5 emails with large To: lists and done a few forums already this morning, anything to help the gov in it's aim to look more stupid and pathetic, granted they don't need much help, but as a member of the public I think it's my/our responsibility to drive that nail in their coffin home :P
Guest Disco Stu Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 Who was / is scarier ? Bush & Blair or Reagan & Thatcher ? Relive those glorious 80s years of nuclear paranoia here : http://www.clubbeer.f9.co.uk/protectandsurvive.html
Guest mcwarre Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 Apparently the Government are not happy with the site and have written to the site owner: Dear Mr Scott, Regarding your website, www.preparingforemergencies.co.uk We run the Government website for the Preparing for Emergencies public information campaign, on www.preparingforemergencies.gov.uk, and are very concerned that the material on your site will confuse people about the sensitive advice and information that we are giving to the public. This is a very is [sic]serious campaign that should not be trivialised. In the interests of helping people to cope in the event of a crisis or a disaster we would ask that you to take down the site, immediately, and not put it up again in another guise. Sincerely, [name removed] Of classic proportions: "Scott says he won't take the site down, but has made it clearer that the site is a joke. He told El Reg: 'More than anything, I'm amazed that a silly joke's gone so far so quickly. I'm also rather suspicious about the British Gas van that's been parked across the street not doing anything for the last few hours...' " :P :D  :D :D :D

Guest Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 Outstanding - when the difference in domain name is only changing .gov to .co, you'd think they'd have registered alternative domains to stop things like this happening!!!!
