Guest giuliastro Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 I know there might be plenty of small tools that do this better, but I wrote a small and simple thingy that all it does is copy everything from StoragePatch to Windows. What's it for? Well, since you cannot move or delete files inside the Windows folder and everything you replace comes back after a reboot, why not placing all things you want to be replaced in StoragePatch and have them copied to the Windows folder automatically at boot? Just copy this exe anywhere and make a link into your startup folder. Then create StoragePatch and place there all your files. I believe this is sp2003 only. BTW: I haven't tested this much, also I did this just to replace the annoying DING default.wav file BUT even after replacing default.wav in the Windows folder that DING is still there. What's the default DING file then? Where is it located? I hope you will be able to give me an answer, I'm using the I-Mate rom on my E200.patcher.exe
Guest nedge2k Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 Nice one! :D We've been waiting for member "Muff" to make this for a while but looks as though you've beaten him too it :P Good work!
Guest nedge2k Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 Oh BTW I think on the i-mate rom the ding sound is "ding.amr"
Guest giuliastro Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 I think on the i-mate rom the ding sound is "ding.amr" Thanks nedge, I found it and replaced it but the "ding" is still there. Man.. it seems like they did a great effort to keep that noisy default sound there. Am I the only one who can't find it? I tried replacing pretty much all wavs and amrs in the Windows folder... :P Anyway, if Patcher is of any use I could keep coding it and add registry settings, a Storage Card Patch folder and stuff like that.
Guest drblow Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 em... forgive my ignorance, but what would i use this app for? on an e200? Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest nedge2k Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 Anyway, if Patcher is of any use I could keep coding it and add registry settings, a Storage Card Patch folder and stuff like that. Yeh man sounds cool :D @Dr Blow, You seen midnight's customised settings hack? You could use this to copy the xml's over at boot to have your own style of settings page :P
Guest nedge2k Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 This app doesnt seem to copy xml files  Also, when i put a file that wouldnt normally copy into the folder, rebooted, the phone wouldnt work properly and got stuck on the homescreen. It seemed to be trying to copy the file over and over. Any way you could limit the copy process to 10 times or something to stop this happening? I've had to hardreset now :D Not really the apps fault coz i was trying to copy a file that wouldnt copy but a cut off point would be good :P Apart from that its cool :D
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 Anyone tried this on the C500? Maybe replace the doink sound (Default.wav) at \Windows on a reboot with a silent Default.wav just like moo's ReplaceSound utility for Smartphone2002.
Guest cattr70 Posted August 26, 2005 Report Posted August 26, 2005 dear giuliastro, Thanks for this patcher, it is very useful... Can you tell us where to create the StoragePatch? In the phone? In the Storage Card? In the Storage directory? Please, this would help me to replace the default unknown caller picture... :) Thanks in advance...
